I really doesn't matter to me anymore either way. Some of these guys on here will tell you only if it has the proper testing done is the only way it should happen. Time to come down from that pedestal boys. If you don't care to bring OST up for any other fights you might as well forget it for this one.
Personally, I'm for OST and I think it's not criminal to test fighters harder. That being said, it's getting really ****ing annoying of late for everyone to have a witch hunt on PEDs. Just because fighters have skill doesn't mean they are on steroids.
You want to know why no one has called out for OST in this fight? Because no one truly gives a **** about this fight. Of course people who are Hopkins fans or Jones fans do, but the vast majority don't. Even the Hopkins and Jones fans are focusing more on the rivalary moreso then the fight and its analysis.
The reason why people are talking about OST now is because it's happening in Mayweather Mosley, a huge event, and even the possiblity of the NYASC adopting something similar.
Also Bat, just because Nevada/other US comissions don't have the perfect testing doesn't mean that they don't do a good job. The OST is just a method to provide possibly the best testing there is out there and there's nothing wrong having that in boxing. The ABC comissions still do a good job and honestly 80% of fighters being on PED is bull****. You really just pulled that number out of your ass.
Fighters generally today aren't viewed as good as fighters of yesterday and they weren't on PEDS, so how the hell are 80% of fighters today on PEDs?
WHOA take it easy this fight is in America we can show up as ****ed up as we want,it's a free country we can do or say whatever we want. The fans need not adhere to any rules other than paying there money and doing what they want.
This thread is more than 12 hours old and only one serious response from Bat. Boxingscene has just proved to me it could care less about OST unless its Manny and Floyd demands it. Sad.
I try not to get too much into the whole OST discussion as it's so repetitive and discussed every day, but here's my opinion.
I think stricter drug testing is fine. I have doubts on whether or not the commissions really want to catch all the users since it could result in a loss of money if a lot of users are caught and fights are not made.
This whole thing basically comes down to leverage in negotiations and the balance of power being all in the "big names" of boxing. There were massive penalty fees in the contract if Morales and Cotto were overweight against Pacquiao, well beyond what the NSAC would've fined them for being overweight. If a fighter like Golden Johnson had a fight with Cotto and asked for a massive penalty for being over 145, he'd get laughed in his face. Mayweather asks for stricter drug testing for a Pacquiao fight with rules that both will have to follow. Most fighters would agree to extra testing because they're just glad to get a big fight for a big payday. Mosley agreed, he's just happy to get that big fight and huge payday. Judah requested stricter drug testing due to Mosley's past and GBP told Zab to go screw himself. Change of principle? Of course not. A Mayweather fight means big money. A Judah fight does not. It's nothing new. Look at Ray Leonard, he had the power to have a guy go down in weight and for the WBC to put up two divisional titles at once. Where else would Lalonde make that sort of money? So he agreed.
A fighter has the right to ask for anything in the contract and the opponents have the right to say no. But of course you're going to have to face criticism if you reject it and justify it with brilliant reasons such as "Mayweather is bigger than me so drawing blood from him will affect him less than it would for me". Part of the reason I'm not too critical on the drug requests is because drug testing varies in different commissions. Look at Texas, they didn't even drug test. It's not like the NBA or NFL where there's a union and set of rules everyone goes by, and athletes are more protected than in boxing, which is a free-for-all. Some Indian commissions don't even go by the ABC rules of boxing.
In regards to Hopkins-Jones 2, well I'd prefer stricter drug testing all around, but if it's the usual NSAC testing, then it is what it is. I wouldn't have a problem with either Jones or Hopkins requesting OST. I don't really have much of a problem with anyone requesting it.

To be fair, I couldn't care less about OST when it comes to Manny and Floyd either...
