I really hope Funeka wins, he deserves it after the last two fights he's been in, for this dude to win he needs to KO the guy and win by points as well it seems, poor Funeka.
El 7, thats a little bit harsh comparing Guzman to Zab. Guzman is not a 4-6 round fighter at all. In the Funeka fight you could see the discouragment in his body language but he did not give up, I think Zab would've quit out right. As far as having so much talent but not seeing it hit it's potential I agree wholeheartedly.

I'm mostly hoping for Guzman to win the fight, but at the same time I kind of feel a little sympathy for Funeka because of how unlucky he's been lately.

It should be a better fight than the first one.

Precisely what I was getting at. Both fighters are high-risk, low reward and very few are in a hurry to fight either one of them. But Guzman's had a much more difficult time than most getting his face on TV, due to his style - technically superior to most, but also an acquired taste.

For me, Guzman won or lose, he's a name and will always have the chance to fight some other names.

Infact losing my encourage others to face him, he may be desperate and fight for less money than he feels he deserves.

Promoters know that having Joan Guzman on their fighters resume is a big deal. Not huge but big enough

Saddly, agains all your expectations this second figth will not be better than first figth, just because Guzman is gonna work with a lot more carefull and Funeka will miss a lot more punches... Guys, Guzman already probed he can handle Funeka in the first figth, before the Head crash. I really think at this time he will gonna show up his class over Funeka freak. For this time his shape will be better, his ring will be better (in the first fight looked very rusty, even during the first three rounds), even his mentality will be a lot better with the weigth issue under control and got a lot more training round.

Those who like Guzman style will gone to enjoy this second figth... sorry for those who not like that.

There's a thread somewhere in the lounge where you will get 5k e pointsif you have under 5k.

Yes Guzman is coming better in shape, but Funeka is just a damn freak for that weight.

Funeka isn't gonna be easy to beat at all.

My sons mother is dominican & I watched that fight with her and her family. Anyway, they was talking mad **** b4 the fight started. Thru the first 4 rounds, they were talking even more ****. After a while they calmed down. After round 10, they didn't even wanna watch the fight any more. After the fight was over all you heard was "diablo Joan, que paso loco" After the scores were announced & the fight was ruled a draw, they all was like "yeah, I thought it would be a draw. They both fought hard" Lmfao!!!! That **** was hilarious.

guzman already demonstrated in the first fight that he can manage to Funeka ... the only thing that changed the fate of that fight was his lack of mobility, the product of 11 months (actually 25 months because Ameth Diaz, was not a challenge for Guzman) that Guzman had no fight. This lack of movement and also, neglect, made it impossible to create a good defense for the right hand he broke his nose. And then in the fourth round, he received the head butts caused the right eye went blind that set the stage for Funeka land his left jab at will.

Guzman is not a fighter power, and if he could not get in the ring with his usual agility and awareness of the ring, always will be exposed against a good opponent, which is not faced since 2007.

Funeka is the most difficult opponent for any 135-140 pounds, but in the first fight showed that he lacked punch and instinct to finish with a very wounded Guzman since the 8th round. Also, it is heavily weighted to throw his punches allowing Guzman to anticipate and therefore avoided using the hands (before the head butt), without using the shoulders or body ... Friends, that's too much! Believe it, I'm sure that what I've seen, it also saw Guzman's team and this time it exploded.

Naturally, the above do not think that will be an easy fight, or that Guzman will win easy ... Funeka is strong and will spend the entire fight looking to Guzman and if found will hurt him. But this time it will be harder hitting and so I think Guzman will win, by close UD.

Honestly Jakesan when I see how uber talented a lot of the Cuban fighters are I harken back to the sort of waste Guzman's career has been and it reminds me of them a bit

being as talented as some of these guys are seems both a gift and curse. A gift in that very few fighters can do what they do in the ring. I have seen some amazing things from Guzman. A curse in that there seems to be a sole reliance on that amazing talent and it IMO can hold them back from honing the talent.

spoke to guzman a couple of weeks ago...

he told me that in the first fight he was dealing with the death of his mother so he didnt really have any desire to train, he even thought about hanging them up... but after what happend in the first fight he is really motivated, and he believes that the outcome will be different this time, camp is going great.. i got guzman close ud...
