JMM has a huge mexican fanbase and Floyd himself said that he's fighting Marquez because he has an entire country behind him. Until then, 700k buys for a fighter carrying a ppv all by himself with very little promotion is more than impressive.

The last ppv that Floyd carried on his name alone was when he fought Baldomir, and that fight did around 400k if i'm not mistaking.

Before the fight, allacfans were saying this figh would get 1m ppv buys easy, now their defending it getting 700k.

nobody thought the fight was gonna do a million ppvs. not pac fans (the serious ones), not boxing writers, not even hbo & bob arum.

You're a moron. He didn't get only 700k buys. He got 700k buys, which against Clottey is very good indeed.

Pac also gets far more worldwide viewers (outside the USA) than Floyd does. The 700k figure is US only.

Clottey was by far the most highly rated Welterweight available for Pac to fight, at the time the fight was made. You're right that Floyd doesn't care about fighting highly ranked Welterweights unless he can make a huge amount of money from doing so, but that is not something any true boxing fan would admire him for. Great champions take on the best available competition, regardless of whether they are a draw or not. That's why Floyd will never be considered a great champion.

It sounded like a good idea because they thought all Mayweather had was M. Hatton or Paulie and it backfired. So stop crying. And don't act like Mosley is this big money maker either. Dont forget that before Berto pulled out they we're gonna fight on hbo for free and split 3 million dollars. And that was in a unification bout. Floyd doesn't even have a belt!! And stop talking about how many seats he sold at dallas stadiums first of all IT WAS A FOOTBALL STADIUM!!!! Not a casino in vegas. And the tickets we're like $50. Not that impressive. Floyd-Mosley tickets are a lot more expensive and they sold over 14,000 in 15 minutes so please spare me. And one more thing. Would you like some cheese with all that whine?
more than 751,000 people disagree with you

            • Now I could be an a.s.s and gloat because a lot of *******s were saying crazy stuff like it would do 1.5 million. But I won't because the numbers speak for themselves. Is this even the official count though, or is this rounded from a figure that they haven't released yet?

Personally I predicted 400k-700k. That is a half decent number but it just proves that Pac isn't the draw his fans think he is in the US. As much as people say they hate Mayweather. I think secretly they love him. Just look at American culture most of the most remebered characters are bad guys. Al Capone, Bonnie & Clyde, Darth Vader, etc.

Like Scarface said "say hello to the bad guy..." Me I root for the bad guy. I always wished Vader would've squashed that midget Yoda.

I bet you if Manny talked a little more trash. Or pulled a "Mosley" after the fight May 1st that would push the subsequent fight to 5 million buys. Americans like controversial characters.

Money Mayweather is the cash cow and the biggest draw in boxing right now.
I bet Dan Rafael is crying holding his Manny blow up doll right now lol!

              • I agree. The basis of comparison should be Pac/Clottey vs. Mayweather/Baldo and Pac/Cotto vs. May/Mosley.

                • IMO....floyd can say that he gets millions in PPV but NOY BY HIS FAN BASE!!!

DelaHoya-his fan base were the cause of "HIS" millions regardless of high heels or not.

Hatton-his fan base brought from across the pond with there chants and songs.

JMM-his fan base because of US mexicans that wanted that "1" on his record and because of cinco de mayo. That excuse of his "rib" being injured was to extend the match to a holiday.

                  SO....once again....THEY WEREN'T HIS FAN BASE!!!!!!!
