I never said Margacheato is an A-side boxer.

I said he was more popular than JMM when he was active.

Margacheato was the man when he was active. People still want to see him fight. Would you watch his fight when he comes back? Would you watch him fight someone like Pac or Floyd?

You're giving him way too much credit. Why doesn't he sell a lot of PPVs when he has a whole country behind him? He needed Floyd to sell big numbers.
now you're back on it. have you been to one of mayweather's fights?
does he just have a large fan base that refuses to travel?

he sells fights becuz he's a good salesman, he's controversial, people want to see him lose and he's got a good promotion team behind him.

yes i would like to see a margarito/pac fight, but i am hardcore boxing fan. i want to see EVERY fight.

JMM was not a big PPV fighter before becuz of:
lower weight class, not an exciting style and he wasnt MAB or morales.
once, MAB and morales were gone (edit: and oscar and to a lesser degree, margarito getting exposed), allegiances shifted. mexicans will ALWAYS be fight fans, they had to latch onto someone.

Floyd could finally get in the ring with Cotto @ 154. It's a perfect situation for floyd. He's now weighing around 154 fight night anyways. He was at least 10 lbs bigger than Juan on fight night. Juan looked like a little kid at the stare down. Plus,Cotto isnt the bull now he was when floyd decided to retire. That fight would make $$$$$. Especially with Cotto being the new 154 lbs champ.

PPVs are more important than the live gate. He does well because he has the skills and talent to back up all his work he does outside the ring. People aren't going to pay good money to watch a fighter who has little skills. Some say his fights are boring, but the man still does good numbers. Who else besides Manny can do similar numbers than Floyd right now? Are you saying his haters are the reason why he sells millions of PPVs?

Canelo is the next big star in a few years.

Point is, if JMM had faught anyone else, would he had done over a million PPV buys? Why did people suddenly take interest in his September fight?

that has nothing to do with a fan base. or are you back off that?
hardcore boxing fans pay to watch skills, not casual. casuals respond to marketing and hype.

are the haters why he sells millions? no, but they are part of the buying audience.

i agree about canelo, but in a few yrs. right now? no.

Who are people talking more about right now between Margacheato and JMM?

That should tell you who is more popular...

You don't hear people talking about him in the media.

I'm still waiting for you to give me a list of fighters who did numbers like Floyd without a large fan base and carried a fight on his own. Floyd also has a good fan base in the UK.

Casual fans also pay for skills. You can have all the marketing in the world, but people aren't going to pay money to watch two fighters with little skills.

They're part of the reason why he does well, but the man does have a large fan base. Prove to me he doesn't have a large fan base.

neither of em are mentioned by the media and neither are really talked about much unless discussing future opponents.
now if, margariot is brought up as a possible opponent for pac, of course he's gonna be talked about more.
but like i said, margarito lost a lot of fans. justifiably so.
