Chavez Jr. has shown me nothing that impresses me thus far. I am sure there are alot of fighters that would look good if you threw them in with the very dregs of the sport. Wake me when this kid decides he wants to fight anybody who can walk and chew gum at the same time... It is sad that is dad at 97 years old is still fighting better quality opponents then his son.
Obviously this card shouldnt be PPV. But as far as Chavez' jr career is concerned. He is young and had no amateur career, they are basically just keeping him exposed, while he does his real work in camp sparring.
Gotta give him 2 more years or so, he is young, and short of experience. It would be crazy to start burning him out now.

Exactly we dont need another ripe peach go bad like Vargas.

I can understand that, I always think it is a good idea to put guys in with people they are supposed to beat early in their careers. But by the time you are 20-0 or so, regardless of how old you are, it is time to fight guys who are not like 1-318. I mean, how much skill is Chavez Jr. really picking up fighting these bums? I would say very little when they are all getting KO'ed in five rounds or less, he could hit a heavybag for fifteen minutes if that is what he needed. And in the long run this is not doing him any good- sooner or later he is going to be in there with a game fighter who can take him ten competitive rounds and he will not be able to do it because he will be thirty fights into his career and have gone the distance two or three times. And don't compare Chavez Jr. to Vargas- El Feroz has more talent then Chavez does, he seems a respectable fighter- but nobody would care if he wasnt riding daddy's name and his coat-tails...

You would be pretty correct if a fighter had a large amateur experience like most fighters you are probably thinking about. Chavez Jr however does not.

Don't you think it would be more beneficial for him, though, to fight someone who has also fought in 2005? Even if the guy is 0-10, at least he doesn't have a year and a half of ring rust.
A sparring partner would serve him more appropriately than this guy!
Chavez Jr. also seems to like scheduling white boys from Indiana. If I lose enough weight, I might contact his camp and see if I could get knocked out by him in a 4-rounder. That'd be something to tell the grandkids!

As you said right now a sparring partner would serve him better, and thats where his real work is going on. In sparring, that is where he is fighting the tougher more experienced opposition.
