What about John Ruiz? He's really not very good though, he's had several losses against mediocre opponents such as Valuev, and he's getting old. I think Haye will knock him out.

Who is the next American heavyweight hope? Maybe Deontay Wilder? Tor Hamer?

I know there are about 850 big men in the US who play pro basketball or pro football. But what about the other 12,000,000 big young men in the US? Is there a potential heavyweight champion among them?
    you forget the "none" option.

I think Chris would have a decent chance if he came in about 235 and went for broke. Sadly, like Solis, he's eating his way out of that chance.

He might not be able to lose any more fat, but most CWs come into the ring heavier than 208, so Eddie could easily sweat that much out.

i dont follow most of those guys and the ones that i did watch fight would'nt stand a chance

ruiz has a good chance against haye until he eats a flush one and arreola could make things interesting with wlad too, but i doubt he would

I’d agree if Chambers had power to keep Wlad honest, even if he did walk in about 235 the disparity in height and arm reach would have been a serious handicap for him.

I think you nailed it on the fucking head right there man; the next best thing in the American Heavyweight scene after Chambers- who quite clearly the current best of the bunch - won't even come along until the Klitschkos are done. Wladimir is entering the latter stages of his career. He's been defending, and defending, and defending since coming back from his earlier career hurdles of being cursed with a glass chin and he's paid his dues; respect is earned. He still got a vicious KO of Chambers after an uneventful fight- the power is there, and with the wins, at least some modicum of respect has to come with that.

I'm not saying Wladimir isn't vulnerable, or that he won't lose before his career ends, but I am saying he's a very solid big-man who uses athleticisim and size, fighting with that monster jab most guys just plain can't get past, that no American on the current scene is going to be able to defeat. Chambers was the last of the current stock, the guys ready for a title having proven themselves against solid opposition (mostly meaning European fighters at this point), and he just got KOed.

So, the next best thing is still in the 'oven', he's a guy who needs more seasoning, experience, to grow a little in the ring before he's at a level to challenge either Klitschko. That's not going to happen until, most likely, right around the time Wladimir is done fighting.

I say he fights Haye - and perhaps after that Adamek- and then retires not long past that. It's about that time and no American heavyweight is going to be at the level of the possible European challengers in a way that Wladimir can justify fighting.

That's it for the ol' U-S-of-A.

                none.
chambers wasnt a "great american hope" neither, otherwise we wouldve clamored to see this fight be televised in the US.
                there is no hope.

Everyone keeps mentioning power, Chambers never landed on Wlad's chin. Chambers simply could not reach Wlad, and Wlad illegally pushing off with his left hand wasn't helping the situation.

Chambers is the best American heavyweight, Wilder and Hamer are there best prospects but there years off.
