I watched these fights the night they happened and many times since. I have heard that Mugabi did this to him and that Hagler was getting old. But how seriously could a great middleweight take a welteweight that hasn't fought in years? I'm not saying he didn't train, I'm just saying he didn't get up for the fight like he did Hearns or other dangerous challenges. Add that to the fact that Leonard was a special fighter in his day and you get an upset.
