Can't see how anyone can have Hagler winning the Leonard fight.

I think it was an accumelation of fights with Duran, Roldan, Hearns, and than Mugabi that slowed Hagler. But his age is even in question. As many think hagler really was 3 or 4 years older than his reputed age. There is no way SRL would have fought Hagler a few years earlier. In addition, he had several stipulations regarding the glove size, 12 rds instead of 15, and a bigger ring so he can get on his bike.

As far as Hagler vs Mugabi i thought RD 6 was as brutal or more brutal than RD 1 of Hagler vs Hearns. Mugabi had won all 26 of his fights by KO and was heavy handed in his blows. Its known fact that both fighters urinated blood after the fight due to those body punches.

It was a great fight, I agree. Action packed from the get go.

Yeah, Hagler really showed his incredible ability to take a punch in that fight. He never even buckled.

It wasn't just Mugabi. It was probably just the wear-and-tear of a long career. Hagler generally had solid defense with his parrying and slipping skills, but was hit with some frequency by slow Roldan back in 1984. You could obviously see Hagler being easy to hit against Mugabi, and having slower legs.

But I still give Leonard credit (I had the fight even). It's not like he was young either, nor active, nor naturally the size of Hagler.

He had been slowing down for years, but Hearns and Mugabi took a lot out of him.

Credit for SRL for coming out after such a long lay off to box so well against Hagler.

I also had Leonard winning by at least a couple of rounds.

I've only seen parts of this fight on youtube. It looked to be an all out war.
