i brought up a discussion for the sheer fact the W Klit is physically on another level than some of his recent opponents and weighing 35 lbs more to start with can be viewed as unfair.

Well lets look at that brown turd of a claim: in his last 10 fights Wlad was outweighed by Hasim Rahman, Ray Austin and Tony Thompson. Sam Peter was 1 lb lighter. Calvin Brock, Sultan Ibragimov, Lamon Brewster and Ruslan Chagaev all weighed around 220 lbs which is 100kgs. If you can't put on 100kgs at around 6' - 6'2" then go play cruiserweight, simple. Chris Byrd and Eddie Chambers were much lighter and suprise, suprise, CB has gone back to cruiserweight. EC should do the same. Either way, Wlad didn't beat down these guys because of his weight. It's because he is an athletic tall fighter. You won't be able to move these fast tall guys out of the heavyweights because they don't outweigh many of the heavyweights these days. Crying about it diminishes all the hard work and training these guys put in.

He's right. I knew Chambers would lose but I was behind him in that fight. He just didn't offer enough really serious punches to get to Wlad.

It's hard to get used to a fighter who is neither a blusterer nor a braggart, but respectful of everybody, and above all, truthful and sincere.

He eagerly sought to fight Samuel Peter, when he was the undefeated,feared Nigerian Nightmare, because he himself, is brave, and always has had confidence in his talents.

At the same time, because of public scorn, he wanted to prove a point. He DID prove it.

He took several big right hands from Peter without even blinking, and showed, once and for all, that a) he's not afraid of being hit by a big puncher, and b) he has a pretty good chin.

And as the poster has said, why should he bother doing anything different, when he's winning every round with his jab. Chambers would not have joined in a slugfest anyway. He was difficult enough to catch as it was.

Another American HW that cant leave it on the line when he gets a title shot. Reverting to survival mode for 12 rounds. On top of that, using peek a boo style defence against the Klitschkos is just daft.

I agree with this. Ustinov who was on Wlad cards is a good example (and so is Valuev and even Prides' Hong-Chi-Man). Most of these big guys are cumbersome and have heavy feet and low snap (even power at all) in their awkward punches instead relying on clubbing and wearing out opponents. LL, WK and even VK (to some extent) are more mobile, quicker and better punching superheavies. I do believe the traditional 6'2"-6'3" 220 lbs boxer is going to have extreme problems with the new age quick, tall, hard punching heavies, but as mentioned above, they are still quite rare.

Lewis was normally lethargic and plodding, although he could move fast to follow up a stunning blow when he wanted to. Even slow footed fighters can jump on a guy they've hurt. The Klitschkos as both bigger than Lewis and much more athletic, very lightfooted and easy moving. But the best moving big man I recall was Rid**** Bowe, at
6'5" and about 230-35 lbs.

Years ago, anyone over 6'3" or so was regarded as being unnaturally and unhealthily large, and fighters of that size and more, more always less able than other, smaller guys. Even life expectancy was less. Fighters like Jess Willard or Carnera, for example were exceptions.

I met a guy like that long ago, his name was Jim Cully. He was huge although very thin. I remember that he was KO'd in his first fight and just faded away shortly after. They called him the Tipperary Giant, he was over 7' tall. Another one I recall was Ewart Potgeiter, a South African, also about the same size, made a brief splash, and also, after about a dozen fights, just more or less vanished. Valuev is, considering that he actually became a champion, a genuine exception to the rule that these huge guys are almost completely useless.

It was a great win for Wlad over Chambers. Chambers has proved himself to be a great fighter but I think he is too small for the Heavyweight divison at this time, we have giants like the Klitschko's, Arreola ect. At Cruiserweight, he could dominate.

I don't see anyone beating Wlad anytime soon.
