I think you have to take Mayweather's 18 month lay off into perspective. The anticipation of him fighting again would make even a casual boxing fan wanted to see it. That's what made 1 mill PPV buys..

No matter what anyone says, whether your a Floyd fan or Pacquiao fan Floyd is good for the sport of boxing. People love to hate him.

The Pac-Clottey fight was expected to sell out and do over 500k buys, Mayweather-Marquez did better than anyone expected.
