Pacquiao-Clottey still managed to draw a crowd of nearly 51,000 fans [50,994], which is the third largest American audience to attend a boxing event in the last 17 years. [Click Here To Read More]
The headline on this story is very misleading! The fact that Bob Arum thinks it will do in excess of 700,000 means nothing. He thought Cotto/Pac would do in excess of 1.6 million. He was wrong! This "story" is a blatant example of a biased writer trying to mislead the reader. I used to be a journalist. When you put a headline on a story, that headline should be reflected in the first three sentences of a story. That is standard practice in journalism. The person who wrote this story put the information that the headline was based on in the last sentence! The last sentence of a story is the least important part of the story. The 700,000 figure was nothing more than an afterthought, not the centerpiece of the story. Whoever wrote the headline is trying to con the reader!!!!

Even when you compare the P.P.V. numbers that Mayweather had with Hatton and Oscar with the numbers that Pacquiano had with them, we see that Mayweather is by for superior. It's time for us to stop being prejudice and to stop hating on the American fighter Floyd Mayweather. Floyd Mayweather is the biggest super star in boxing today. All roads lead to Money Mayweather.

That's whats up Ice. Well said.

Arum show try capitalizing on large audiences like this by producing an undercard that isn't complete **** in future.
We don't know what the numbers are yet. The 700,000 figure is Bob Arum's guess, nothing more. He guessed that Cotto/Pac would do 1.6 million. He was off by 400,000. This fight probably didn't do more than 500,000. The fact that it is six days later and the number has not been released by HBO means one thing. The number is very low and Arum is trying to get the release of the number delayed until they count every PPV possible.

Big J they think everybody is ****** but we know that the number normally would've been announced by now. Bob Arum is full of ****. Your right the numbers are in now but their lower than expected. He's probably gonna dig up dead bodies and sell them tickets to get that number up.

Good for Pac, glad he was able to do those type of numbers vs a very unknown fighter to the general public.....
I hate to assume, but fu.ck it, i'm sure clottey/mayPUTO wouldnt have done those type of #'s...

As for the arguments of mayPUTo/Marquez.....they pushed the fight back to dieciseis de septiembre ffs. Get over it....

              Amazing !

Pacman in 17 years produced the highest gate , simply amazing. He did it singlehandly as well. Clottey did not do this bless his heart.

700,000 ppv buys all by ONE man. Amazing !

Where was Mayweather during the past 17 years ? Why didn't he get the popularity vote and why didn't he bring people to his fights in DROVES, Why didn't he best Pacman ? I 'll go ahead and tell ya.

People LOVE the Pacman. He is a game fighter with stamina deluxe and skill. He loves people back. All Time Great, with no controversy .

People love to hate Mayweather. He has skill but he is suspect because of his cherry picking. Its more than obvious he never wanted this fight with Mosley but due to circumstances he had to take it. He will lose by KO. Pac will be the second man to KO Mayweather if there is anything left after Mosley tears his head off and throws it at his dying butt !

People tune into Mayweather fights to see him get whipped all but some followers that bow down at his every word. LOL People don't like the vile mouth of a man that is chicken to back it up by taking on all comers.

Mosley will do his part in bringing people to the fight and much better than Clottey. I expect this fight to produce more ppv than Pacmans because everyone will want to see Mayweather get his second beating but much worse than the 1st Castillo fight, Mosley is gonna hurt him bad, real bad, gonna KO his ass real good.

This shows Pac has a hell of a draw to him to do numbers like this with nearly nothing in the way of promotion and build up for the fight.

How in the world did Arum trick everyone ??

Before 3/13 came, everyone and I mean everyone was complaining about how Arum wasn't doing his job as a promoter , due to lack of promoting the fight. Now he's an ****** because it looks like the fight was a profitable one.

And no, don't blame Arum for what happened in the ring, blame the fighters !! That's why PAC always says, his job as a prizefighter is a huge responsibility, he knows who is the boss, and no, it's not Arum, it's not him, it's the fans and it's PAC's job to deliver what the fans want, it's not his fault Clottey folded up like a b*tch !!

PAC could've just cruised to victory, but no, the guy tried everything, including allowing himself to get hit. We know we wouldn't have gotten the same effort from that other "star" of the sport !!

Margarito has a lot of issue and might have some trouble renewing his license, Andre Berto would be easier to set a match for Pac. They're both champions in the ww division why not include him as prospect.

Since a lot of you think it was all Pacquaio please tell me why Bob Arum paid Clottey almost 3 million for this fight? Shouldn't he have gotten 500Gs? Clottey legitimized that fight. He is a former world champion and has had more high profile fights in America as Marquez has.
