This is the more likely explanation for the delay in releasing the numbers, it's common sense really, when you have a great PPV total you announce it as early as possible and declare victory. The fact that "Top Rank" hasn't done that says the final total was probably a disappointment. Bob Arum is a business man, I wish fans of the sport would understand that, he isn't a fight fan in the same sense we are, so if he has to fudge some numbers here or there so his top fighter won't potentially lose some of the bargaining leverage or the luster that comes with being Manny Pacquiao then he'll do it. Arum isn't a watchdog for the sport so he isn't always going to employ the more scrupulous of tactics.

Besides, in the end, the numbers are irrelevant in my humble opinion to the irrationality of the Mayweather and Pacquiao fans. A good rivalry between competitors and fans is stimulating and even fun. But when I come to these boards to read about my favorite sport, fans from either the Mayweather or Pacquiao camps seem to be determine to ridicule each other and name-call rather than relying on cogent reasoning and objective fact to make their points.

Boxing has a storied tradition filled with amazing athletes and dedicated fans, it's a shame to see so much ignorance and blind hatred. Mayweather and Pacquiao are carrying a heavy load on their shoulders right now because they're both sensational fighters with large fan bases. In many ways the little guys are carrying the sport of boxing. As a fan I'm just glad to have these two around because if they weren't, some great fighters, fights and perhaps even the sport would be in the shadows once again.

    Just a thought brothers.

lol jealous of mayweather? think again

de la hoya was more relevant in 2007 being light middleweight champion, kicking mayorga's ass, and premiere of 24/7, a first look so the interest is high. pac de lahoya was considered a mismatch during promotion, it was but the other way around. hatton was perceived as a human wrecking machine. marquez was mexico's best already, who is also riding pacquiao's name because of the two fights. if marquez-floyd was a one man show, then how come it did more compare to may-hatton which was a two man promotion in america?

i hate mayweather fans when they twist facts. pac gets to your nerves

admit it or not, people watch floyd fight just to see his precious "0" taken away. yeah, it is a PPV draw, but in the negative way. Im not a hater. I'm just stating a fact.

60-40 mayweather. Mayweather is the biggest draw in boxing history now. 2 million + sold if anybody thinks otherwise (pac vs de la hoya only did 800,000 buys) thiers the proof
what kind of numbers were delahoya doing before fighting floyd? basically the same...so the numbers for delahoya/fraud jr were expected

what kind of numbers did fraud do before fighting delahoya? basically nothing...what was the numbers for the marquez/fraud jr? less than what pacquiao/cotto did...HAHAHA

i would expect fraud/mosley to outsell pac/clottey, being that both fraud and mosley are two american fighters fightin in the U.S. and the fraud/mosley fight will have almost 2 months more to promote than did the pacquiao/clottey fight

and as if to expect fraud to be the one to attract all of the PPV buys is ridiculous...i'd say less than 50% will buy to watch floyd, while more than 50% will buy to watch mosley

              mayweather sucks . ..

Never seen a full one of his fights. Well he's good for one thing 4 sure. I got my wife pregnant on his last three fights because of the boringness of them.

Got a pretty family thanks to Mayweather. nitramzaid@hotmail.com

Still Pac is the biggest draw in this decade...

Pac draws almost hit 51T gate attendace went to see him fight live in the historical cowboy stadium...

But I doubt KFC cannot sold that kind of gate attendance with the kind of Clottey marketability..

exactly what i thought.hope dirty bob learned his lesson.if you take clottey out and add mayweather in then the gate would've did over the 100.000 seating and the close-circuit and ppv would've been off the charts.can't wait for the real fights numbers.mayweather vs mosley. a real fight
