Just saw the number one and number ten and decided to post...

Dempsey... He IS a great champion, he fought bigger guys. He was a big fun to watch, thanks to his style, but you know what? Chris Arreola told not so long ago that he would`ve knocked Dempsey out... And he was absolutely right! I think Arreola stops such guy within six! No way the guy of Dempsey sizes and style could last any longer even against the fattiest version of Chris.

Ali/Louis... If the author of the article had a formula to count the champions`s points, i`d like to see how many did these champions get... Because when it comes to accomplishments I cannot call a more accomplished fighter than Joe Louis!

P.S. to the guy who told that Evander is not a top 10 ATG HW - Holyfield started at LHW, he was always a small HW who fought much bigger guys! Hands down is among the greatest HWs and boxers...

Mike Tyson is overrated, but he had SO much potential, that's the only reason I agree on his position. Holyfield was a monster, so I basicly agree. Though I'd rate Marciano and Lewis higher.

I recently ordered all the Sugar Ray Robinson fights he had from my main dvd contact, a guy who's been archiving fights for years and a boxing collector. Even he only had about 10 fights of Ray's, as well as some documentarys/highlight reels. And Ray fought decades after Wills and was actually a celebrated, multi-weight champion. So I don't see any justification for ranking a fighter from an inferior era no less, with very little if any footage of him around, number 11. It boggles the mind. He's clearly overrated old timers. Marciano at 8? Marciano was a crude brawler who came along at the right time. Floyd Patterson would've licked him if he hadn't retired as early and Marciano's people knew it. Jack Johnson should not be number 3 either. I've seen a little footage of Jack, not a great deal, but enough to know he was great for his time, but certainly doesn't deserve to be on a Top 10 All Time list, that's for sure. Above someone as accomplished as Mike Tyon..noooooooo. There's many other flaws in the list but I can't be bothered going into them
The fighters are ranked and judged by the way they dominated in their own era. You can't judge a fighter by saying he would have been beaten in another era.

As for the comment about high rankings of fighter we have never seen in action, I agree it seems strange, but looking at their records, you can see who they beat, so it doesn't matter that much you don't see them in action as long as we're talking about rankings. For example, in the middleweight all-time list, Harry Greb is listed as the no. 1, ahead of Robinson, even if there is no existing footage of Greb in ring action. I think this is a very good list overall.

Jack Dempsey would have taken the fat slob Arreola out of there in 1 or 2 rounds.

I respectfully disagree. The thing that bugs me about these kind of lists is.... these guys, these old timers, no matter how many new top fighters emerge in this era, out of respect and nostalgia, older fighters from previous eras, no doubt great, marvelous fighters, will keep their berth on the All time list. You're right, you can look on Boxrec and see who Wills beat. But does it mean anything? Have you seen any of his opponents? I mean, it's like in 40 or 50 years you'll get people ranking Wladimir Klitschko number 5 or 6 because, Oh he beat a ton of fighters and dominated his era... it's flawed logic.

Tyson didn't have a superior rival who he could leech off of like frazier because he was in a league of his own.

Tyson at his peak did what foreman, frazier, holmes, dempsey all failed to do,and that was to fight virtually every top contender of his era.He didn't duck fighters due to skin colour,or because of their punching power,he took them all on.

Trust me I agree, but Louis would probably be no.1 if he didn't get drubbed by Max Schmeling in their first meeting.

Same with Tyson, he probably would have been ranked higher were it not for the beating he took from Buster

Foreman at no. 9 ? That is outrageous. In his prime, he only lost to the best ever, Ali, and was outboxed by a clever Young. In his comeback, he lost a competitive fight to a fleeing Morrisson, then lost to the great prime Holyfield, and ended his career by dominating Briggs only to get robbed. Foreman is exactly in the right spot : shouldn't be lower, shouldn't be higher. He was fighting like a mummy, but that mummy was hard to stop.

Holy never fought a pro round at or under 175 lbs. Holy was a Light Heavyweight the same way Cassius Clay was: at the Olympics.
