i think rid**** bowe was the worst heavyweight champ in history, he should be ashamed of his accomplishments. he won the tittle in spectacular fashion ok but that was it! he defended against jesse furgeson & michael dokes (are u kidding) then refused a lewis fight and literally trashed the wbc belt. nuff said with him. i also think lewis and holyfield are rightfully in the top 10 but should trade spots just looking at their accomplishments. no disrespect to either. -

The list turned out like I thought it would. I think the top 5 order is perfect, but I'm not sure about the top 5 - top 10 order. Lewis seems a bit low in the rankings at number 9 compared to the inconsistant Holyfield at number 6, ahead of Frazier and Marciano. Not sure about that...
My top 10 would be more like this :
10. Dempsey
9. Holyfield
8. Lewis
7. Marciano
6. Frazier
I believe Lewis deserves to be ahead of Holyfield, not because he beat him, but because he was more consistent, despite being ko'ed twice. I believe people tend to rank Holyfield a bit higher than he deserves to be based on an emotional link : he is easily one of the greatest warriors ever, it's hard to overlook that, even in defeat.Last edited by Tiozzo; 03-19-2010, 11:08 AM.Comment

I think the names in the top 10 are right. I might have done a little shuffling, like putting Foreman at #9 and moving Marciano and Lewis up a bit, but other than that it's pretty darn goodComment

The list sucks. Harry Wills at number 11? Has the writer actually seen Harry Wills? I know I haven't. I doubt there is more than a couple of minutes of footage on him. I recently ordered all the Sugar Ray Robinson fights he had from my main dvd contact, a guy who's been archiving fights for years and a boxing collector. Even he only had about 10 fights of Ray's, as well as some documentarys/highlight reels. And Ray fought decades after Wills and was actually a celebrated, multi-weight champion. So I don't see any justification for ranking a fighter from an inferior era no less, with very little if any footage of him around, number 11. It boggles the mind. He's clearly overrated old timers. Marciano at 8? Marciano was a crude brawler who came along at the right time. Floyd Patterson would've licked him if he hadn't retired as early and Marciano's people knew it. Jack Johnson should not be number 3 either. I've seen a little footage of Jack, not a great deal, but enough to know he was great for his time, but certainly doesn't deserve to be on a Top 10 All Time list, that's for sure. Above someone as accomplished as Mike Tyon..noooooooo. There's many other flaws in the list but I can't be bothered going into themComment
