Valero. Not sure if he'd knock him out as Mitchell has a pretty sturdy chin and can box well when he has to, but I don't think he's near elusive enough to cope with Valero's offense and his own offense probably isn't enough to keep Edwin off him.
He also has a tendency to being dragged into brawls, which would be suicide against Valero.
Interesting question. I would certainly agree that he has the skills to completely outbox Valero,My gut feeling though is that he wouldnt have the discipline to not get drawn into a brawl at some point, which is frankly bonkers against Valero.
At this point I would pick Valero. Mitchell had a long lay off with injury, and is only now fighting world class opponents,so with that in mind his fight against Katsidis should tell us where he is at.
On another note,I am not doing Valero down. He may be crude and not the most skilled of fighters, but that isnt the be all and end all in boxing. What he does have is a massive heart,a strong chin, and is one of the hardest,if not the hardest punching fighters in the lower weights I have seen. The bloke is f.ucking intense!

I am a fan of both.
I think Valero's technique is a lot better than you give him credit for. It's unorthadox and easy to overlook as he's so aggressive but there are a lot of nuances and subtleties to his game. More of a Pacquiao than a Juan Diaz (not that Diaz is unskilled).

Doesn't the wipeout of Prescott encourage you to give Mitchell a chance?
I know Prescott's attack isn't as sophisticated or nuanced as Valero's but Mitchell figured it out pretty well.
