Hopefully after Hopkins beats Jones he can avenge Jones' loss by beating green later in the year.

Trainers of Jones and Hopkins say rematch will be different

Im a huge Roy fan and I agree with lead. That was a good post. Even if Roy was 50 Danny Green should not have even been able to land that punch against Roy. He just might be on the verge of being punch drunk. 10 years ago, Roy would have countered that haymaker that Green threw with a left hook and probably knocked his ass out.

Hpkins has a fairly low punch output.
So if he dosen't KO or overwhelm RJJ he has to outbox him.
That makes it a closer fight.
I think Roy's speed and power can keep Bhop honest.
Should be interesting.

Buzz up!
Ask 10 fight fans if they are excited about the April 3 rematch between Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. and eight will probably tell you they’re not even paying attention to it.
However, most will admit they would have been into the rematch had it taken place at least six years ago, before Jones began his dramatic slide from his pound-for-pound perch.
Even Alton Merkerson, Jones’ longtime coach, feels this way and said so on a Wednesday conference call with Hopkins’ trainer Naazim Richardson.
“As a coach, I would have liked to see the rematch happen eight years ago,” Merkerson said. “Both guys were experienced but closer to their primes.”

And one thing that hasn’t changed about each fighter, even after 17 years, is their competitive nature.
It’s what might make the rematch worth watching.
“We’re in the last chapter of this book,” Merkerson said. “Both men have made history. They’re not trying to prove anything to anybody. It’s about self-satisfaction now.
“It boils down to Bernard saying ‘You can’t whup me now’ and Roy saying ‘Yes I can.’”

i think that this article is a great for the promotion of the fight, i actually like the promotion of this fight, it's not about fluff but facts. both trainers are not saying outrageous stuff and both fighters know that they're old and they're not trying to blow smoke up anyones ass.
they're using the rivalry, their age, even jones recent loss is all apart of the promotion and it's straight forward. it kind of refreshing to be honest because, i was expecting, especially after jones loss to green, but i was expecting them to go into super hype mode and just blow things way of out proportion...... glad they haven't. i'm glad.
with all that being said, even though i think jones is really past it for this level of competition, i think that it's going to be somewhat exciting, i think that roy is really going to try and take hopkins out. for some reason, i don't think he feels like he could ever lose to hopkins and his confidence is going to be like it was when he was a younger fighter.
still, i think hopkins mauls him and brutally knocks jones out. there is just too much pent up motivation in hopkins to be denied. i think hopkins needs to get that win over roy so he would be able to retire peacefully. hopkins would probably be haning around boxing trying to fill that void like a ghost stuck in between worlds, haha.
hopkins by taking jones to the deepend around round 9 and get the tko...... if not sooner, but with all the pent up, i think hopkins would like to beat jones for a few rounds instead of trying for a first round annihilation...........
