Nothing says "You're a loser" like waking up prone on the canvas, followed by a ride to the ER.
I saw the fight last night. Cliff was connecting but none of his round house right punches that connected had any affect on Nicolai. Nicolai is very mobile for a big guy and his jabs were quite affective in keeping Cliff bobbing and weaving most of the rounds. SOmetimes, Nicolai, though not legal, would just stick his left glove on Cliff's face. He staggered Cliff a few times but Cliff would valiantly try to connect. One of those exchanges, Cliff tried to chase Nicolai but suddenly Nicolia stopped and pushed Cliff away. Cliff took a hard fall to the canvas. Seemed to have gotten a bit stunned by that as well.

The end came in the 4th round. Nicolai hit him a few times and Cliff went down. But he got up quickly but got caught again. Here's where the contreversy starts. In this exchange, Cliff was trying to get close to Nicolai but he walked into a left. Cliff tried to duck the next punch and tried to get under Nicolai's giant arms. But Nicolai side stepped to his right and threw a huge downward right punch to the top of Cliff's head. Cliff wasn't KO'd but he did grab the top of his head and stayed down. He was clearly hurt.

This drew a lot of boos as well as approving roars from the crowed. Plenty of fans knew it was an illegal punch and made it known. Ref didn't seem to care it was an illegal hit.

He did warn Nicolai earlier in one of the rounds to stop the one rabbit punch I saw. Sometimes he can't help it as he knows how to side step his advancing opponent and try to counter. But being so tall, his right counter lands on top of the head.

Valuev is nowhere near being a worthy #1 contender..........Although good lobbying by the germans has prevailed again...

on the other hand, the moment Valuev fights in the states, he will be disqualified. He has knocked out previous opponents with king hits behind the head, swinging forearm, pushing, etc.......

i honestly expect him to be DQ'd in this fight.

I hope this big russian fouls Johnny Reez to death and the ref looks the other way every damn time. We all have to face facts though, no matter what happens Johnny is not going away, he may never go away.

This guys is his mandatory but i think Ruiz is entitled to one vounutary before fighting Valuev. One would hope this is Brewster but Lamon has a mandatory. My hope is that Lamon vacates the WBO title and fights Ruiz for the WBA.
But i think Valuev has a good chance of beating Ruiz in an ugly fight.
Can you smell Klitscko Vs Valuev WBC/WBA unification match.....

It might actually prove to be an interesting fight. Klitchko tends to have more trouble with someone his own height. Valuev is, what....6" taller? I wonder how Klitchko would handle it, or if he would. Sometimes size is all that matters, if the difference is great enough.

Ruiz and Valuev are both big time rabbit punches. For me no other punch hurts more does more damage than a rabbit punch. I really hate rabbit punching. It is one of the worst fouls and it goes uncalled to often.

It is one the worst feelings in the world you duck a punch and somebody hits you in the back the head. It is devestating.

Hit me in the face all you want, bust my nose, but I cannot take punches to the back of the head.

Protect yourself at all times is the simple theory to beat rabbit punches I personally don't care so long as he stop Ruiz, he could be on crack ******* as i am concerned Ruiz is Garbarge who should not be champion do not look at him as a champion just another David Bey with a title. To think any of these guys could have beaten Tyrell Biggs, Carl Williams, Frank Bruno, Herbie Hide, Danny Williams

ducking a punch is protecting yourself. Its complete bull**** if you or somebody duck a punch and then a guy Like Valuev hits in the back the head while your ducking there is no defence to that. That is what Valuev did to Entienne. Taking a serious rabbit punch can cause brain damage like nothing else.

And you can get such good leverage hitting somebody in the back of the head while their head is ducked and below you. Especially if you are 7 feet tall. Valuev should have ben DQ'd vs Entinee. I am going to upload the fight. The introduction is at least very entertaining.
