Comments Thread For: Samuel Peter Dares Alexander Povetkin To Fight

There's an old saying that "getting to the top is tough; staying there, tougher." Perhaps nobody currently active in the sport of boxing knows that any better than Samuel Peter. [Click Here To Read More]

Sam might stop Povetkin with a rabbit punch to the back of his head!

In 2005 Teddy Atlas said Sam Peter would be the "next great heavyweight" but ever since Peter lost to Vitali, Atlas speaks VERY badly of Sam.

This version of Peter isn't even competitive against Povetkin, and i am not at all sold on Povetkin yet.

Peter is rubbish, he is short, has slow hands, slow feet, telegraphs his punches, only has 6 round stamina.

All he has is good power and chin, I wouldn't mind seeing him v tua or Areolla, at least you know someones getting finished off in those fights.

When I saw Peter against Maskaev, I thought this guy was finished, over the hill, shot. But maybe I was wrong. Maybe he was just being lazy in camp. His last win was not all that impressive, but he did look better than in his last couple fights. Anyway, we'll see... I don't really think he can avenge even one loss. But I would like to see him against Povetkin, Arreola or Tua.

Id be much more interested in seeing him vs Tua or Arreola. Hell even him vs Haye would be fun, but not so much Povetkin.

Tua is not quite ready, he's training for his upcoming bout against Friday the 13th in New Zealand. He should win easily then i give him one more fight to solidify a top 15 ranking. Then Haye better watch his ass cause he'll be the one in Tua's sights. Unfortunatly i think the Klits are too tall and Lennox like for Tua.

That sounds like Teddy alright, his praise is a sure guarantee that the guy will lose. And it was only a matter of time before Peter met a fighter (Klitschko) who wouldn't fall down of his own accord if he didn't hold on to the ropes. Unlike most of Sam's opponents up to then. Maskaev, with his shaky legs, and very vulnerable chin, { 6 defeats- 6 KO's}was by far the best of Sam's opponents, which is saying......everything.

In the Klitschko fight, the one Sam is so puzzled he didn't win even though he KD'd Klitschko 3 times {actually 1 was rabbit punch, 2nd was shoulder grip and shove down, the 3rd was a very near miss, or graze, and Klitschko overbalanced back into the ropes which bounced him to the canvas--he got up immediately} Klitsc hko dealt out a tremendous amount of punishment, Sam was running right onto Klitschko's left glove, and taking plenty of right crosses. Other than the rounds in which the blind ref gave the "KD's", Klitschko won every round. All the judges had the very same score, there was no way it could have been anything else.

This "BUMPFH" that masquerades as an "article", is produced by the Peter camp PR guy, and the interchange between him and the manager Goytzev, once you know who and what they are, is actually hilarious. Goytzev wouldn't know a good fighter if he came up and hit him on the nose, his "knowledge" of boxing, begins and ends with Sam peter, so you can imagine how skimpy it is............sort of "learning on the job" for both of them.

AND.........lest (we) I forget.........this same Peter is the very same Peter whom Jameel McCline knocked down 3 solid times...............and also, lest PETER forget (he already has), the travesty of a verdict actually had Peter winning the fight......... although Jameel was on the very verge of KO ing him more than once.

I was almost sorry for Peter........almost.

Peter looked like a much different and better fighter in his last bout, but he should have to fight a couple more worthy opponents before he gets another title shot. The guy he just beat (Nagy Agqueila) was a virtual unknown until he beat a very shot Maskaev and was a tough journeyman at best. I'd like to see Peter fight the winner of Arreola-Adamek, Tua, Dimitrenko, or Denis Boytsov. Let's see how good he looks then...
