Ike controlled the fight with his jab. I had the first 3 rounds pretty close and then had Quartey winning every round up until like the 10th/11th. It wasn't even close for me.

I give Pacquiao more credit, although I know that Quartey is slightly
tougher of an opponent than Clottey in their primes
      .

are you nuts? ike was a beast..im losing faith with many posters on this site.

ike beat oscar and oscar beat mosley in the rematch.

its a shame cuz the judges not only robbed quartey of the victory, they also robbed us of more prime fights from ike.

if he wouldve been awarded the victory like he deserved, he wouldve never taken over a yr off and come back to fight a bigger man at a higher division.

wouldve loved to have seen ike/mosley or ike/trinidad.

I thought that ODLH lost that fight, Pac dominated a bigger Clottey that it looked like a boring fight cause the other guy wouldn't punch. ODLH/Quartey fight was exciting though. I would have to go with Pac on this one

            What a terrible question.

The versions of De La Hoya and Ike Quartey in that ring, at that time, would have knocked out both Clottey and Pacquiao of any version. And the result wasn't a "robbery" in the DLH/Q match. It was a very close match.

Quartey was a better fighter than Clottey, actually came to win rather than survive, but De La Hoya was lucky to win the decision. De La Hoya finished strong and nearly stopped him. Great. Does that mean he actually won six rounds? He did **** all for most of the fight. Being GENEROUS to De La Hoya, he won 3 of the first 5 rounds, round 10, and round 12. The 6th was clearly an Ike round as he controlled the round after the KDs. So being generous to DLH, he still loses 114-113.

Quartey-De La Hoya is also possibly the most overrated fight in recent years. Two exciting rounds and 10 rounds of posing. I heard people say it was the best WW fight since the early 80s and some guy wrote an article having it as the 4th best WW fight of the last 40 years. Watch a fight like Davis-Breland, Brown-Trice, or Page-Lopez and then watch Quartey-De La Hoya.

In terms of competition level, Id pick Oscar/Ike

In terms of dominance, Id pick Pac/Clottey

it was only 10 rounds of posing if you completely dismissed quartey's jab which was thudding off of oscar's face repeatedly.

it was a highly skilled technical, knife fight with some skirmishes and KDs mixed in.
                    great fight

It was a posefest which featured a great Quartey jab. A really good chessmatch is when one guy makes a mistake and the other guy makes him pay. DLH-Quartey wasn't even that, it was too guys largely staring at each other and doing nothing. This was especially so in the middle rounds, which mostly featured Quartey doing a little bit, some jabs and the occassional right hand, and DLH doing even less than that. DLH later said the reason he was so tenative is because he was worried about Quartey's punching power.
