Comments Thread For: Roach dismisses Hatton, ‘he’s washed up’; will he continue?

Freddie Roach has no time to sit on his laurels, the red-hot coach guided Manny Pacquiao to an impressive shutout win over Joshua Clottey on Saturday night and is now looking towards Amir Khan’s WBA light-welterweight title defence against Paulie Malignaggi in New York on May the 15th. Damn, Roach just makes his own fighters look bad. He says the opponents aren't **** before and after the fight is over with. Lol.

Im a huge Hatton fan i want to see him win again but i wouldnt want to him to take the risk of fighting again in case he lost. I dont want Ricky to be only remembered for his last fight (similar to De Le Hoya most are remembering De Le Hoya getting killed by Pacquiao but forget all the other great fights he was in). Just one more Ricky! Theres only one.

Roach is always contradictory about Hatton's retirement. He would train a fighter to try to beat him up but wouldn't train Hatton on health grounds or principle. Just ******.

Well I think he means if your training a fighter you are somewhat responsible for his career and his health, If he trained Ricky then he would feel responsible for what happens to him. He thinks he should retire but if he wants to fight Khan then Freddie has too look out for his own fighter, and Khan would make a lot of money off Ricky and it could possibly help his career. I don't know, he definitely contradicts himself. He thinks he should retire and that's why he wont train him. If he is the opposing trainer though its not like its his fault if Ricky get hurt. Ha so confusing.

Wait, if hatton is still able to beat up fighters like malignaggi, does that mean malignaggi should retire as well? I think it's fine if hatton sticks around knocking out c level fighters like paulie, but he just doesn't belong with the elite.

If Ricky didn't get depressed and destroy his physical and probably mental health after the Pacquiao fight, I'm sure Roach would have considered working with him!!

But, LOOK AT RICKY!!!! He is a MESS, PHYSICALLY!!!! And who knows how he is coping mentally!! Does anyone sincerely think that the best trainer in the world should stop working with elite fighters and young up & comers and instead train Ricky Hatton????

The fact that Ricky is considering only one more fight before retiring is a sign of a desperate man!! If this was a Rocky Balboa-like story, that would be different. But Ricky already accomplished his full potential. And he's not an old man looking for redemption!! WAKE UP!!!!
