Exactly, that's the old trick that is used over and over again to rob non-American boxers of any credit. I specifically remember Calvin Brock being called the "savior of the heavyweight division," same with Sam Peter. Then they got beat by Wlad and Vitali and suddenly they were always bums, tomato cans, etc. Revisionist history is a disease with some of the US boxing media and fans.

Total crap. How about those 4 (or was it 5?) straight left hooks that Wlad KO'd Ray Austin with? Not bad for a guy with no arsenal. True, against Chagaev he was more limited, but that was because of a shoulder injury that would have caused most fighters today to call off the fight -- Wlad fought through it and got not much credit for doing so. And Vitali threw everything in the book at Arreola, including uppercuts, hooks, jabs, right crosses and everything else. The problem for you is the evidence makes you out to be full of ****. If size was all that mattered, Tye Fields and Michael Grant, who can both throw jabs and right crosses, would be champions today, and Tyson Fury would be striking fear into the hearts of heavyweights across the world. But he isn't.LOL
Whatever dude.
In Manny Pacquiao you're looking at an all time great who showed almost every combination in the book against Clottey.
In the Klits you have a couple of giants who can flash a jab and a right cross...and that's about it.
But if that's what you like then more power to you. Some of us don't go for that though, we remember what a truly skillful heavyweight should look like.
I should also add that Lennox Lewis was a "giant" who also relied heavily on the left jab and the right cross, but somehow he doesn't get criticized for it much. Maybe because it worked pretty damned well, and he only lost when he got away from that formula.
And I'm not saying Pac-man isn't great. But I'm not all that interested in some pipsqueak who can throw a lot of punches against other pipsqueaks. So what? And as you say, if that's what you like, more power to you. But either way that Pac-Clottey fight was a total bore.Last edited by ChopperRead; 03-16-2010, 10:51 AM.Comment

Good luck Eddie Chambers. Hopefully he can enter the discussion and give the heavyweight division a jolt, but most likely Wlad does the same thing to him he does to everyone.Comment

Hoping for a good fight. I suspect Wlad's steelhamer jab will wear down Chambers and he'll go in for the kill around round 9/10.Comment

That's all Pac is to you, a pipsqueak? That tells me all I need to know about your knowledge of, and respect for, real boxing. I guess Ray Robinson and all the other guys who ever fought at 147 pounds were just pipsqueaks too.
By the way, Pacquiao is not American and he is immensely respected here. It's because he earned it.Comment

Yep. A little fella who is a very good fighter. But so what? He's still a little fella. I really couldn't care less about him, Floyd, or anyone else in that division. Little guys fighting little guys. I can get into the Super Middleweights. But I'm a fan of heavyweights, first and foremost. So sue me.That's all Pac is to you, a pipsqueak?
