Floyd hardly ever gets hit. Pacquiao has his speed and power, sure. Yet today he looked like he never seen a defense before. He poked and prodded at Clottey's arms. When he obviously could have thrown an uppercut to get through his guard. Yet, he pitty-pats his arms, and then tries to go to the body with pop but it hits all arms. Tries to jab at the body to score points. Did we forget Floyd has this defense?
Do you see any holes to the body against that defense? Nope. Not any shots that will count. Let's not even talk about "the head is open" because Floyd is maybe second only to Pernell Whitaker in reflexes. He isn't getting hit flush in the face.
Now we turn to Pacquiao's defense tonight. He got hit cleaner than Clottey got hit all night. Sure it was only a few shots but still enough to make Pacquiao look(cosmetics) like he was the loser. Mayweather's accuracy is 100x better than Clotteys. So what does that mean about Pacquiao? If he was so easy to hit against Clottey, he will look like he is fighting under water against Mayweather.
The only chance Pacquiao has is to swing the same time Floyd does but lets face it, Floyd doesn't go on the offensive. Floyd will put Pacquiao in a position where he can't throw at the same time as Floyd. That is where Floyd will counter and then not get hit at all. In the words of ****m Richardson. Based on this fight alone. Pacquiao RIGHT NOW. Has nothing but a puncher's chance AT BEST. His only chance to beat Mayweather is to throw as many punches possible at Mayweather and hopes one lands. He isn't going to be able to box Floyd. He hasn't improved enough to do that. Tonight he looked like he never seen defense.
If Mayweather was fighting Pacquiao instead of Clottey. Pacquiao would look like he went back in time and was fighting Marquez. The difference being, Pacquiao wouldn't land much of anything flush and he would have been hurt hell of alot more than JMM did to him. He would have been countered, elbowed, and clinched up most of the night. If Clottey ripped back Pacquiao's head with only those few punches. Mayweather would have done hell of alot worse. Based on right now.
