Jose Luis Castillo (60-10-1), a one time lightweight king and once considered as one of the best pound for pound fighters in boxing, announced his retirement after the loss to Alfonso Gomez on the Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey undercard at Cowboys Stadium in Texas. Castillo is only 36-years-old but he went through many wars during his pro career, including the war with Diego Corrales in 2005, which is considered one of the greatest ring battles of all-time. In their first meeting in 2002, he nearly handed Floyd Mayweather Jr. his first pro loss. [Click Here To Read More]

Castillo looked awful. I don't know how he was allowed to fight. His balance and co-ordination looked terrible tonight. It was sad to see.

He had a good career and it's clear that he is not close to the fighter he once was, retire in peace , Champ.. thanks for all the wars.

I find it sad that Jose Luis Castillo was the last one to know that.

            How it always is though.
Great career, always have my respect. but should have never fought tonight. Was a disgrace in my eyes.

I find it sadder that Castillo likely did know it and kept fighting because he is trying to take care of his family. Thanks for all the great fights in your past Jose, and wish you well.

he knew he was done, but just like jim lamply said, top rank gave him one last good payday. which i feel was what arum should have done, and was very kind hearted. retire in peace castillo, you won't be soon forgotten.

What a piece of **** undercard. Arum is stinking up the joint.

JL Castillo was a great fighter but he shouldn't have been on this undercard. Freaking top rank helped him go out in an ugly/pathetic fashion. Then again, Bob Arum hates Mexicans so there is no real surprise. Arum must have gotten gang****** by 50 mexicans in Mexico City on one of his visits, the way he treats Mexican fighters.
