Realistically, how many fights can a pro boxer participate in a year?

assuming boxing wasn't all politics, boxers weren't over-paid, negotations were easy, no injuries, etc etc

how many times can a superstar boxer fight a year... taking training time, recovery time, peak, etc into consideration

    12?
    4?
    3?

If they all have to fight the same then it can be once a month. If one has to train for 12 fights a eyar, and the other only 4, then the one that is rejuvenated would win.

They may get paid more, but not all. Only a very few names make millions but they also spend more and fight less.

they can fight 2-3 times a month physically , barring injuries and if they can get that many fights.

probably better for them since they keep in shape and on weight the whole year.

that's how they use to do it in the old days.

plus since you're fighting so much , most won't be fighting in divisions where they have to cut 15 lbs. each time they fight.

that's why the old timers who use to fight 2-3 times a month were weighing in at their fight night weight.

they don't have weeks to cut or lose 10-15 lbs.

Realistically a top boxer i.e Mayweather/Pacquiao could fight around 3 or 4 times a year barring injuries or suspensions etc. This is because when you are on top you need to negotiate (can take a while with top opponents) and go through a long training camp also and to recover from previous fights obviously. So I think the best is 3-4 times a year

Of course boxers who are on the comeback trail tend to do things quicker because they are desperate to get their name out there. But when boxers are on top of their game in their prime they tend to have 3 fights a year max
