If Lewis was a real champion...

If Lennox Lewis wanted to prove that he was a real champion, he would have given Vitali a rematch. Can you see any of the ATG heavyweights (Holyfield, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Joe Louis, etc.) not ever giving a guy who fought tough a rematch. Yes, Ali smartly avoided giving George Foreman a rematch but other than that, all those guys would have jumped at the chance. Lewis won fair and square but a rematch would have been HUGE and worth alot of money...

Lewis was the luckiest man alive in that klitschko fight. he held up the promoters for extra millions, Klitschko only got the fight about a week before it happened, he'd been training for an ordinary fight against a much smaller opponent. AND..............

          if you saw the fight you'd have seen that actually it was difficult to give Lewis ANY round, the most should have been 1 drawn rd. The cut, was actually a tear, and almost certainly, medically speaking not from a straight punch, more like a lace or thumb, maybe plaster. The doctor was a fool and after the fight gave 3 different reasons for stopping it, each one different. MY favourite one is " I said "look up" and he couldn't because his eyelid nerves were cut and it drooped, making him unable to see...........{never mind that he was standing right over him and all Klitschko would have been able to see would be the doctor's navel, if he even heard him in all that hullabaloo, not to mention the 3-4 different shouting voices in his corner in a different language, not to mention that at that time Klitschko could barely speak a few words of English et.etc. etc.}

We ALL (maybe only nearly all) saw after the fight when Klitschko heard it had been stopped because he couldn't "see" how he jumped up, highly indignant, with BOTH EYES OPENED WIDE.............stammering "I can see, I see ver' vell", etc.

Lewis was almost 100% certain to go down for the count in the next round, and absolutely certain, in the round after that.

          Just my opinion.
Isn't he the same guy that got banned before? I know because if it is the same guy, he comes out when it's a Lewis-Vitali debate. It's not even funny.

Anyway, Lewis was also training for someone who wasn't great, and he came in bad shape when they pulled out, similar to Rahman. He was heavy, Vitali even said he knew Lewis was too heavy and would get tired.

Vitali was in prime. At 38 Vitali has lost his legs and speed. Even his power is down. At 37 Lewis was also the same, but he would have beaten a 37 year old Vitali IMO.

People forget how athletic a prime or motivated Lewis was.

I like Vitali, he has a good style I like, but he lost fair and square.

Many fights change hands by a KO/TKO, that's the name of the game. You ever last for 12 and win, or you KO the guy. Why didn't Vitali KO lewis in the 6th?

Don't get hit and you don't get cut, whether it is a tear or whatever you mentioned, it was not illegal? Am I right?

Yes Vitali was pissed with that decision, and personally I don't think Lewis was going to go down. He was tired, so was Vitali. Lewis would have torn that eye up and make him blind.

Sometimes I wish they let it continue and Lewis made him blind just so all the fans would shut up about it.

everyone in England desperately wanted that fight to continue, because we were 100% confident that Lewis was going to knock him out. He started landing some HUGE shots. There's no way I could have seen Vitali lasting another 2 rounds.

And when you need to come out and argue about the side or thumb of Lewis' glove...you know you're reaching.

Just watched the last two rounds again before it was stopped.

Round 5 Lewis dominates, pressurizing, landing more jabs and more power punches.

Round 6 is a sluggish round. Lewis wins it, pressurizing more, landing more shots again. And if you look at the end of the round Klitschko is hugging Lewis so much that he's almost pushing him over. He hugs him and pushes him from one side of the ring to the other. He looks spent.

                THE TRUTH

Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards at the time of the controversial doctor stoppage. Lewis was badly hurt and was staggering around the ring like a drunk, he barely survived the 2nd round. Lewis was getting outboxed, outworked, outlanded and was hurt several times in the fight.

                punches landed

                Vitali 156

                Lewis 102

Lewis was exhausted and worn down from the accumulation of punches, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission that night and would've KO'd Lewis for sure if the fight had continued.

Vitali intimidated the **** out of the scared Lewis after the fight and made him look like a *****. All the fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and boo'd Lewis after the fight.

                Lewis promised Vitali a rematch.

Vitali destroyed Kirk Johnson in 2 rounds and called out Lewis in the post fight interview. The scared Lewis retired shortly after that fight.

Lewis turned down 25 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew he would get destroyed by Vitali.
                Great post.

                Vitali Klitschko >>> Lennox Lewis

Vitali beat his ass into retirement.

Klitschko's corner is screaming at him after rounds 5 and 6 as they begin to realise their moment has passed.

The Lewis corner a total contrast. Calm and collected. Emmanual Steward says 'ok it's your's now'.

Man, I was watching Wlad-Sanders today and heard that Lennox gave Sanders a few pointers before the fight. Not only that, but I saw a short doc where he's giving Chambers pointers on how to beat Wlad too.

Vitali has some reason to be bitter, his only shot so far at beating a HoFer and ATG heavyweight is a TKO loss.
