This whole Winky was ducked is not an excuse. Because, most of it was his own damn fault. He walked away from a Taylor rematch because he outpriced himself out. He was offered 4-5mil dollars to fight Margarit and he turned it down saying that he wanted the $8mil that they offered Floyd. And, also he fought top fighters and lost.

JC Vazquez beat him dropped him like 5 times. An undersized Whitaker easily beat that same JC Vazquez. Winky also lost to a prime Harry Simon. Who was a top fighter at 154 at the time. And, Simon later went on to win a title at 160.

And, right now I am going to look for a link where Oscar De la Hoya offered a fight to Winky. And, Winky felt it was a lowball offered and turned it down...

He is nothing close to an ATG, and he is not a first ballot HOF'er either. He might get in but it will take some time.

BoxingScene.com: There was some talk a few months back, regarding Oscar De La Hoya having interest in staging a fight with you. Were there any serious discussions to make the fight or was this something Oscar was putting out there to test the fans' interest in the fight?

Winky Wright: A while back, after I beat Tito (Trinidad). Oscar came up and said that he would fight us. Somebody made a proposal from his camp. They gave us the proposal and we felt that the proposal was not good enough. We turned it down.

In the link above he also mentions that he will only fight Floyd Mayweather if it is 50-50. If not there will be no fight.

As for Shaw last month turning down $6-million (plus $6 per pay-per-view buy above 600,000 homes) to fight Oscar De La Hoya ?

"He offers everyone else $10, 15-million," Wright said, referring to the $10-million Felix Trinidad got for beating De La Hoya in 1999. "I ain't doing it."

How do you have Pacquiao as a greater fighter then Foreman, Hagler, Jones AND Holyfield then turn around and say a guy like Winky doesnt deserve to be a hall of famer?

Then you bring up losses when he wasnt prime?

Did you even watch the Simon fight? No offense but did you watch that or are you just boxrecing because that was originally declared a draw then they gave it to Simon it was a MD that shouldve been a win for Winky. He was in South Africa and was jobbed by the judges.

Im watching the Vargas-Winky fight again. You need to watch the fight with the volume off. The HBO team slobbed Vargas. I dont know how long you been watching Winky but most of the punches that you think are landing are blocked it happens so fast that it gets missed and counted as punches.

That is fair, he had a nice run at 154. He did beat some top 10 fighters maybe not big names but there were top 10 fighters. He also unified the division and became lineal champ. He is not an ATG. And, I don't think he is a sure fire HOF'er. But, I think he is borderline.

Simon fight was not a robber either though Burner, It was another close fight. Do not comapre Winky to Pacquiao FFS's. And, **** HBO with the Vargas. That fight was not a robbery. That fight could of gone either way...

I've got what you would call high standards for the HOF. I know there is probably less deserving guys in there than Winky, but to me it should be reserved for elite, elite fighters who won 90% of their fights against whatever other elite fighters they fought.

But I would put Winky in the HOF before I'd vote for guys like Hamed, Gatti, Cotto, and Hatton. Ottke definitely shouldn't get in either.

                  I agree with that.

I think he is a sure HOFer, and a possible, borderline ATG.

I can't consider a guy, who's best win is Mickey Ward (some may say Patterson or Ruelles but I say Ward), a HOF fighter...but that's just me.
Yeah, Gatti is no HoFer in my eyes.
