I consider Mayweather like Terrell Owens....both have God-given talents but a little short on the IQ in terms of dealing the media, fans and then some. On the other hand, both knows "how to press our buttons" so to speak.
They like playing the villains.
But in my eyes, both Mayweather and Owens are subpar compared to Pacquiao and Jerry Rice who at least respects the dignity of boxing, upholding and putting forth at least a good front and as representative of their sport.
Pacquiao's refusal towards blood testing (is really refusal against Mayweather's demands) is not an admission of guilt of a drug user or illegal enhancements. And so in Mayweather's role of the villain is well-documented.
It isn't the in-the-ring issues that many fans/writer/media turn against Mayweather Jr. It is his mouth outside the ring that does it.
I think his stance on boxing as a pure mercenarian is a disrespect to the sport.
But in the ring, I still think he commands respect with his mastery of defense. I just hope that he can prove it by fighting the top fighters.
I hope he fights Pacquiao by the end of the year.

I don't like floyd because he talks too much and often contradicts himself with stuff he has previously said. That stuff doesn't bother me too much though.
I really don't like his style though, I don't find him to be an exciting fighter at all. There is no doubt he is blessed with a ton of skill but in recent years the guy will literally only throw a punch if it is a counter. Even against a broken down Gatti, he only countered, he could have finished Gatti so fast and he just countered, same with JMM and Hatton. And even though he made a ton of money and millions watched his PPV's, in my opinion he is the reason the sport was going down hill. He was on top and all he cared about was the business aspect of boxing. He would have been willing to fight De la Hoya 10 times in a row. Even when he came out of retirement he said he was going to try to fight Oscar again. That fight ****** the first time, so many casual fans bought the fight and probably were turned off boxing because of it. I really don't consider myself a "floyd hater" , I just don't like him and I have plenty of reasons for that. I don't like his loud mouth arrogant family either (dad and uncle). And lastly, in my opinion he really did have the opportunity to become one of the greatest boxers of all time, before he retired he could have fought an undefeated cotto, margarito, williams, and I am not saying he ducked those guys but if he had decided to put business aside and fight and beat those guys , he would be a top 5 boxer of all time, in my opinion. He was in a great division, probably the best of the decade and instead of cleaning it out, he retired, saying he had nothing to prove in boxing anymore.

But I think you guys missed the point. I can careless about how the man acts, I'm a grown ass man. So why would another mans ways or actions affect me?
All he needs to do is be a great boxer, thats all I pay to see. I dont pay to see him talk, I pay to see him box. I think its kind of female like to be mad at a guy for what kind of person he is when I've for one never met him.
People say he is boring, well I guess a pure boxer is kinda boring to mopst, while most arent true BOXING fans.
I just dont see why a person would take the time to see his name, click on it to see what he says, pay close attention, get upset then write about how much they hate him... That just puzzles me.
I dont like old black and white war movies, so why would I see it on the menue, select it, watch it then say how much I hated it?

Nobody liked Floyd when he didn't want to be the villain. Now that hes playing the villain (not by choice) people cry. He even sucks at being a villain! lol

i don't particularly hate mayweather, i actually watch most of his fights, tv appearances, etc. and enjoy them... i just love making fun of him and his crew right in front of his emotional fans, does that make me a bad person?
