Doesn’t really matter. Wlad is the champion, all those other guys are just holding some belt.

Man, this could present some interesting bets.

Like.. 500k Sosnowski doesn't survive past round 6.

1 million Sosnowski lands less punches than Kingpin.

Solis: He was a better choice, but Vitali TRIED to get him, maybe he wants to wait until Vitali retires to try for a world title?

Thompson: was KOed already by Wlad, hasn't really fought any better opposition than Sosnowski (Witherspoon isn't very good)

        Valuev, Povetkin, Pianeta: Sauerland fighters

Valuev, Austin, etc: Don King fighters

Quezeda: less proven even than Sosnowski - his best win is Travis Walker

Boytsov: would have been better than Sosnowski, but his promoter decided he wasn't ready yet, and understandably so

Sosnowski was probably the best available WBC-ranked opponent.
I agree with you on most of the things, BUT!! I disagree with you on Thompson! I think he would be a great choice. He lost to Wladimir... so what? He lost in the last but one round and gave THE CHAMPION a tough fight. He has a pretty good resume for a contender.

I wish Solis could give up some weight and finally step up...

wow this is embarrassing, I didn't even know who Sosnowski was until today. I'd never seen his name mentioned or in any of the rankings. I checked though and there he is at #12 or so in the WBC. Off I go to look for some of his fights online...

Rubbish. Dimitrenko would destroy Sosnowski if they fought each other, and is rated far higher by every reputable independent ratings body.

Sosnowski was already scheduled to face Fraudley. And it's not actually scheduled or it would be listed on boxrec. I'm sure Chagaev would have been willing to take a fight with Vitali instead if he'd been offered it.

Vitali is not Wladamir. Losing to the lineal champion is not a mark against you. He's still a top 5 fighter according to all the independent rankings bodies.

He's ranked far higher than Sosnowski by every independent rankings body and would easily beat Sosnowski if they fought. He performed reasonably well against Wlad. As a stay busy fight, he's a far more credible opponent than Sosnowski.

Boystov and Vitali have the same trainer, and Boystov is nowhere near ready to face Vitali, if you think his management would let him anywhere near him you're crazy.

                Vitali tried to get Solis

You could say that about practically anyone. He's had 27 pro fights, he's ranked #7 by The Ring (higher than Valuev). He's at least as ready as any of the other possible opponents are, and far more ready than Sosnowski will ever be.

If that's true, they're *******. But I'd like to see their statement that they won't let him fight him.

The first link doesn't work but I presume you meant this article. If so, it says nothing about Vitali making Solis an actual offer and Solis turning it down. It just says he was exploring the possibility of fighting him, which is extremely vague.

Your second link is just speculation about it being an interesting potential match-up. It says nothing about Solis turning down an actual offer.

And I couldn't find anything on google about Solis turning down an actual offer. If you have such a link, please post it.

There's a big difference between someone saying he's potentially interested in a fight, which those articles basically say, and someone actually turning a fight down, which Carnivore implied had happened.

Solis is not a big enough name for people to go around him and ask him every week how negotiations are going. Vitali tried to get him and for some reason, couldn't (I'll let what that reason is up to your imagination).

However, let's try to think logically, what reason could there be for Vitali to not fight those guys you mention, apart from them not accepting the fight?

There's no article that says Vitali was ever in negotiations with Solis. If he was, why wouldn't Vitali say so? "Exploring the possibility" is a very vague phrase. It does not prove that Solis was ever negotiated with.

It could simply be that the German TV networks weren't interested in Solis and told Vitali that they'd pay him more if he fought a European champion. It could be lots of things.
