This is how brave Roy Jones was....

He got hit by a bomb on the jaw. End of.I agree, I was very impressed the way he dugged down to win the last two rounds against Tarver. To me that gave him the victory. He need it to win those two rounds to win the fight. And, he did and then he gave an immediate rematch when he didn't have to... He gets credit from me for that...
But, that is also why I don't buy the weight drained excuse in him getting KO by Tarver in the rematch. He was good enough in the first fight to win the fight and he had enough in the first fight to win the last two rounds... But, in the rematch he was drained? I just don't buy that. If that was the case he would of gotten KO'd in the first fight as well.
His legs never recovered from that drop in weight though... he couldn't move the way he used to, or get away the way he used to be able to.
You know bro?Comment

Yes, some people felt he won but the majority felt Jones won a tough match. And I think people weren't used to seeing Jones in a fight like that. Regardless, he didn't have to give him a rematch. Oscar De La Hoya would've never looked back
. But he did.

You did? wow. Jones was bound to get caught flush at some point in his career and the chances of it happening with a Southpaw would be greater due to the fact that all their punches come from different angles.
It was the same punch that Corley and Judah caught Mayweather with as well.Comment

Thats mainly what i was getting at, a lot of people assumed Tarver did better than he actually did because of who he was able to compete with a guy that who up until then had gone relatively untouched, what probably made it seem worse is that the crowd were into the fight and they made it seem like they had just seen a great fighter dethroned or something.Comment

Jones legs were already going at the Harmon fight, which is very interesting concerning what was going to happen after that fight.Comment

I've made some bad predictions in my day (Jones over Calzaghe, Oscar over Floyd) but I picked Tarver to beat Jones the first two times. But people act as if Jones had never been hit before Tarver. Jones' punch resistance just went into the ****ter. Idk wtf happened. He took BOMBS from Tarver in the first fight, sneered and continued to come forward even though his grill was swole. But that one left in the rematch shattered his chin - and more importantly - his psyche. You did? wow. Jones was bound to get caught flush at some point in his career and the chances of it happening with a Southpaw would be greater due to the fact that all their punches come from different angles.

Yup. And Jones gave him an immediate rematch. Should we stand and clap? No but a lot of other stars would've never looked back.Thats mainly what i was getting at, a lot of people assumed Tarver did better than he actually did because of who he was able to compete with a guy that who up until then had gone relatively untouched, what probably made it seem worse is that the crowd were into the fight and they made it seem like they had just seen a great fighter dethroned or something.Comment
