first of all wat is pathetic about a country who has no pro athletes in a sport they care nothing about ??? If they had poured massive amounts of investment and time and still flopped then yes thats pretty pathetic....

Second have u ever played cricket... watch wat happens when u have a solid ball (more solid than a baseball) coming at u at nearly 100 miles p hour.... also the fielders wear no gloves they catch that **** raw dude... play the game, show us how great u r at it then say its pathetic.

And finally YES the statistic is incorrect, india does produce boxers... not many granted but like many (poorer) nations - they pinnacle at Olympic level.... the sport has little popularity or sponsorship at the pro level: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vijender_Kumar

if this was a thread about the need for India to get more involved in boxing and encourage althetes to commit more resoruce into the sport like China do I would be in agreement - but using it to insinuate that a whole nation of people are "pathetic" or incapable of doing so is wat is known as "race superiority" - which is RASCISM... which comes from bigotry and lack of education.

India are a sporting nation just not is ones that r on your radar - Cricket & Field Hockey r massive their and they have been regular Olympic Gold medalist in Field Hockey for nearly 100 years.... India also has one of the most ancient civiliations / society in the world... the west didnt destroy their history - as such several traditional sports r still very propular..... also the concepts behind almost all martial arts especially the concept of Chi comes from the ancient yogic texts in the Vedas..... India is rich cultured country with many facets..... it has amazing things to shot just like every other country in the world.... im sure the history of your people has many things u r proud of..... I will continue to assume so until I EDUCATE myself otherwise.....

sport is realtive to amount of coverage it receives.... there are plenty of people about who r SICK in sports that we dont know much about coz they get little coverage....

I comment becoz their seems to be this general under-current of suggestion that India or Indians "cant" do sports..... like i said... get to know some... compete with them and then talk.... India is like any other country.... some people r nerds and some r jocks.... ive met both.....
