Hot welterweight prospect Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (31-0-1, 23 KOs) knocked out Brian Camechis (19-3, 8 KOs) of Ohio in three rounds at the Palenque de la Feria, Tuxtla Gutierrez in Chiapas, Mexico. After working him over in round one, Alvarez got him in serious trouble in the second round by dropping him twice. Alvarez then landed a massive lead left hook to drop Camachis in the third for the win. [Click Here To Read More]

That was a huge wide open left hook, the kid needs to work on defense and footwork, but his power is superb at this age. I think he should take the Hatton fight, not only would it be his biggest test, but it will launch him into another level of exposure. Should he take the Hatton fight, he'll need to train like never before, Hatton (as much of an average contender he is) will be no walk in the park. Or maybe he could fight the winner of Jose Luis Castillo vs Alfonso Gomez to see who really is the best Mexican welterweight (yea cuz JLC is a welter haha). It would make good money though.Comment

I saw the fight and it was a similar KO to that of paqcuiao-hatton lol.. but with a left hook, and what a hook it was. This kid has power on both hands [seen many of his fights] but would like to see him fight the B level fighters.. not the mayweather, pacquiao or cotto's of the division... well at least not yet......

he is to ****y he has been saying for some time that he wants to fight pacquiao, cotto, mosley his foot movement is not good speed is not good for a 147 pounder he has to correct those things because any of the top 5 welterweights could KO alvarez if he faces 1 of them soonComment

i agree, the winner of castillo/gomez should be good for this stage of his career..how about mike jones?..don't know but at end of year he should be fighting berto or quintana, whoever winsThat was a huge wide open left hook, the kid needs to work on defense and footwork, but his power is superb at this age. Against poor opposition anybody looks good...
Alvarez needs to start fighting way better opponents, if he wants to get ready for the welterweight elite...Fighting these tomato cans might make him look good at the moment, but actually ain't going to make him a better fighter...If anything it's just going to make his record look better but at the same time he ain't learning anything & he's just going to pick up bad habits...& he definitely needs to work on defense & better foot work..His next fight should be against Mathew Hatton, which is very far from the elite but for now it would be the best opposition that Alvarez would face...Lets see how things turn out...Comment
