Pacquiao is a bigger star than Mayweather

yes and that's why sugar ray was ranked 1st. however, pacquiaos greatness surpasses durans. when i talk about greatness, besides titles/belts, these things are taken in consideration when thinking about him:
- starting at 106 and ending up dominating and crushing welterweights.
- not ducking top competition and taking the best at the division, making his run in it completely legit.
- all of this with an entertaining, impressive, crowd pleasing, offensive fashion.
the phenomenon that is manny pacquiao has been unseen since the ali days. he has all the elements that qualify him as a definite all time great, you don't get a fighter with all of mannys qualities and skills too often. speed + power + literally destroys opponents + keep an highly offensive pace through the fight + looks just as impressive as he did before going up in weight.. i mean the guy is a special, unique, one of a kind fighter. all of this without going talking about his titles and place in boxing history. a fighter like pacquiao comes around once every 100 years. you might see a fighter or two with SOME of the skills, some fast and agile, other rely on their power, but not all skills into one fighter combined.
i think the guy completely deserves the respect and recognition he's getting. without a doubt one of the all time greats and second greatest of all time. whether you'd like to lower him, fine, but he's still amongst the top 10 of all time. pacquiao's something special.
1. Just how does his greatness surpass Duran's?
2. The DLH fight was the only fight he fought at 147 - I dont think its accurate to say that he has been dominating and crushing WW's
3. If he's the greatest of all time, then where do you rate the following; Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duan, Thomas Hearns. Bernard Hopkins; RJJ, Henry Armstrong (I could go on and on)Last edited by heatman; 03-05-2010, 06:19 PM.Comment

no i don't. I don't think Pacquiao is the best fighter of our era either. Styles makes fights and Pacquiao hand picks fighters with styles which are perfect for him. I think he got scared after Marquez outboxed him 2 times lolComment

You haven't seen or heard anything yet. Akyra is really a Puerto Rican who was a former Cotto fan who converted to being a Pacquiao fan. He use to **** on Pacquiao on the daily basis and his name use to be robtc. He was on the Get Your Facts Straight show once and made a fool out of Pacquiao fans by saying Pacquiao can beat Ali at a catchweight of 154. Since he's been sucking up to Pacquiao after Cotto lost, the Pacfans have forgiven him and adopted him as a *******.

it contributed nothing to the thread and what were you trying to accomplish with it?
it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out i was and AM a huge cotto fan and used to dislike pacquiao because i thought he was a hype job. i really did but like cotto once did, pacquiao earned my respect with his actions. i used to like (not a huge fan) pacquiao before when i saw him fight one of my fav fighters in marquez but then i thought the hype got out of hand after the de la hoya fight. i mean, i wasn't sure if the de la hoya that showed up that night was a good measuring stick to analyze pacquiaos greatness. but the cotto win pretty much the last nail in the "doubt" coffin that i had.
and are you ******? i mean, a drained 154 ali ... don't you think he would lose to pacquiao? i mean, it's common sense he would've probably lost.
so yes i did red k your post for being a ****** .. i thought you were cool.
Btw, it did have to do with this thread. I was answering Erik18's question about you being a troll.Comment
