yes and that's why sugar ray was ranked 1st. however, pacquiaos greatness surpasses durans. when i talk about greatness, besides titles/belts, these things are taken in consideration when thinking about him:
- starting at 106 and ending up dominating and crushing welterweights.
- not ducking top competition and taking the best at the division, making his run in it completely legit.
- all of this with an entertaining, impressive, crowd pleasing, offensive fashion.
the phenomenon that is manny pacquiao has been unseen since the ali days. he has all the elements that qualify him as a definite all time great, you don't get a fighter with all of mannys qualities and skills too often. speed + power + literally destroys opponents + keep an highly offensive pace through the fight + looks just as impressive as he did before going up in weight.. i mean the guy is a special, unique, one of a kind fighter. all of this without going talking about his titles and place in boxing history. a fighter like pacquiao comes around once every 100 years. you might see a fighter or two with SOME of the skills, some fast and agile, other rely on their power, but not all skills into one fighter combined.
i think the guy completely deserves the respect and recognition he's getting. without a doubt one of the all time greats and second greatest of all time. whether you'd like to lower him, fine, but he's still amongst the top 10 of all time. pacquiao's something special.
