Sanchez over Gomez, Mexico`s Biggest Win in the Rivalry a Moot one?

I was watching some old fights during the day and I came across a documentary called "Las Batallas de Wilfredo Gomez".

Its a documentary of Wilfredo Gomez life in and out side the ring. I learn that before the Salvador Sanchez fight, he was hanging out, going to parties, drinking, ect, ect. He got married and went on a cruise and the fight should have been postponed, but 25 days before the fight and 30 pounds overweight, he recieves a call from his promoter Don King stating and saying to him, that he needed to get back tht the fight was on and it was bein televise in the US.

So Gomez came back to PR to train with 25 days left for the fight. He struggle so badly to make weight that he only ate 1 meal in days and had to run in the Vegas desert to shred the extra weight. He was so weak, he could barely run to lose the extra pounds. And that fight was a same day weight in fight.

Now after learning all this, how can anyone give Sanchez the credit of beating Gomez, if he beat him in those conditions? I mean, thats even worst tha DLH vs Pacquiao. Probably Sanchez would had beaten Gomez anyways, that dude was no joke, but to give him credit for beating gomez in those conditions is ridiculous

This thread will probably turn into a Mexico sucks, PR are cry babies and all kind of insults from each side. But this is not meant to cause a flame war or anything. Its just my oservation on the matter, wich is kind of ridiculous situation to make a fighter, fight in those conditions!!

You can add all kinds of excuses some 20-some years later but the results still stands and will be written in the history books as Salvador Sanchez TKO 8 Wilfredo Gomez

champ i thought you were better than this. you are becoming a bitter beyotch lately. first the pac hate & the ***** alliance now this? you guys really need to figure out whether or not you are going to actually forgive gomez for losing to sanchez & stop coming up with excuses.

as for the fight, bazooka bit off more than he can chew. he was never the same fighter power & chin wise as soon as he moved up to featherweight. considering the fact that he lost to azumah who chava beat, it didnt matter if he had 30 days or 3 months, salvador still beats gomez.

Back then, you weighed in the day of the fight. Gomez came in overweight and was put into a sauna with a sweat suit to make the 126 pound limit. Gomez was coming up from the Super Batam weight division, (122) so Gomez can only blame himself for the weight struggle. Today fans would cry "weight drained" but back in the days, fighters didn't cry and complain after a defeat. So, yes Gomez wasn't at his best against Sanchez, but that was his fault.
