Fact is you need more than the same hair-style to be the next Kostya. Last time I saw Lenny he was up against Rey Anton Olarte, a nobody-nothing fighter knocked out by Billy Dib, who I don't rate at all.

It's highly likely Lenny took that fight without an ounce of motivation in his blood, but he couldn't knock Rey Anton Olarte out. Never even looked like he would. There goes the one-punch knock-out power theory.

Fact is Lenny is like most Australian fighters of late who are thrust upon the world scene without professional seasoning. And I mean the lot of them: Green, Mundine, Katsidis, Taylor, the list goes on - nearly every top level Australian fighter has gone after the best having beaten obscure fighters from places not renowned for boxing prowess.

Lenny is fighting for a fake world title connected to an organisation that seems very keen to make Australians its champions. The IBO has offered titles to Green, Mundine, N'Dou, Katsidis, Dib, Geale, Darchinyan and others I'm sure for one simple reason: they're trying to create "world champions" in a country that produces respectable, journeyman fighters mostly, and world class fighters occassionaly. More importantly, Australia is one of the richest countries in the world.

With a good promotional engine, an IBO champ in Australia has a small market with a large disposable income in which to do business. Hence Green doing great business against a 40 year-old Roy Jones.

The same thing is happening with Zappa. He should win his fight and he has a good promotional partner in Gary Shaw (thats not a character reference for Shaw). But a world title is only as respectable as the man you win it from or against. Daniel Geale proved himself a worthy opponent against Mundine. The IBO put Katsidis in against Diaz for his world title shot. That's about it. Both fights were 50-50 or 60-40 on paper. Most IBO title fights are highly contentious in the match-making.

Bottom line, I hope Lenny Zappavigna wins his fight. But there's no way he's a world champion when he does. He's just a guy who won his last fight and got a trophy for his efforts. Yeah, and his hair style looks a lot like Kostya Tszyu's...
I have also been noticing this trend. Will Tomlinson is another Australian IBO title holder (intercontinental, not world) and is apparently contesting a world title sometime later this year.

Just because he has the same hair as Kostya and is from the same place. Doesnt make him the next Zu.

Those are big ass shoes to fill and this kid is nowhere close to being as good as Kostya was.

He's Italian-Australian. That loser has no buisiness wearing a Chupryna and until he cuts his hair i'm going to hate on him.
