Hopefully the only way Oquendo gets into a Vitali Klitschko fight is if he buys a ticket.

True enough. The recent "success" of the American heavyweights is a real indictment of the US amateur system. When compared to the amateur pedigree of the Klit brothers, there really is no contest.Personally I always enjoy watching Wlad and Vitali dominate former "saviors of the heavyweight division" like Sam Peter, who is now regarded as a bum only because he was abused so bad by Vitali. Wlad did the same thing to former "savior of the American heavyweights " Calvin Brock. The Klitschkos are brilliant at turning "next big things" into tomato cans overnight, much to the chagrin of much of the American boxing media, who do their best to try and rob them of credit. If there is a problem with the HW division, it's that Wlad and Vitali are so much better than everyone else. When they are gone, the division will most likely sink into a state of belt-trading mediocrity, with fighters trading titles back and forth like baseball cards, and people will look back at the Klitschkos as the last great dominant HW champs.Comment

Vitali only has one, maybe two good fights left in him.
Haye, Povetkin, maybe Chambers, if he beats Wlad.Comment

I would rather see him fight no-value than fight a washed up fast Fres, but Valuev doesn't deserve 4 million.Comment

I agree.
Oquendo as deserving as Arreola and Johnson? Both those guys were undefeated and ranked in the top 10 HWs at the time, Oquendo is nowhere near, beating a 18-17 or something Demetrius King doesn't make you deserving of anything. Just a promoter spitting BS as usual.Comment

Toney Vs Vitali??...what is the world coming to???Former Fres Oquendo manager Tom Tsakas contacted BoxingScene.com after reading a piece that ran on the site concerning Dan Goossen's desire for James Toney to get a shot at WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko. "Fres will take that fight. I think he has earned it. James has had his chances over and over. Everyone knows what happened when Fres fought him." Tsakas went on to say, "Now that Valuev has turned down the fight you have James, Olandier Solis who has fought 15 fights and Fres. I think Fres is as deserving as those other guys. He owns the USBA and NABA titles. When he fought James Toney everyone knows he won that fight. I think he is the best American heavyweight out there." [Click Here To Read More]Comment
