MURAD MUHAMMAD: I kept Pac away from African American fighters..

It is right that Pac-Diaz was being discussed before Pac even fought JMM at 130. Win or lose against JMM Pac was moving up to 135 to fight David Diaz and then have a fight with Juan Diaz. That was the big fight at the time in that weight-class. Everybody wanted to see it. But, Campbell beat Diaz in an upset. And, Pac went on with the purpose David Diaz. I have talks with OnePunch on here who is part of Campbell team. And, they said at the time they couldn't get a fight with anybody cuz of Don King. Whatever opponent Campbell got in there with King wanted rights. And, Arum giving right to Pac to Don King... And, also Oscar De la Hoya came calling... Business sense there was no way that Pac-Campbell could of been made instead of Diaz cuz of Don King... But, fans we really don't care about all that behind the scenes stuff... we just want to see the fight. And, since Pac is the star we blame him for that fight not getting made...
Also, while we will never know...I truly believe Pac would have stayed a few more fights and fought top guys at 135. But anyone with any type of common sense knows you don't turn down a fight with DLH. So I don't blame Team Pac for jumping at that opportunity.Comment

This was always my understanding on the situation. FWIW as much as Arum hates Floyd...It is no where near the the distain he has for Don King. I didn't know about giving up the righs to Don King...but if that is true, with the way Arum hates King...there is no way in hell Arum would do that with one of his top fighters.

I truly believe the same as well... He would of stayed at 135 and fought the top guys there... But, when Floyd retired and then Margarito beat Cotto... Oscar went on to look for an easy win against a name fighter to set up Oscar fight against Hatton... So he went with Pac thinking it was easy. And, a lot of fans felt it was mismatch as well... And, it actually was mismatch but the other way around...
I couldnt shake that feeling.Comment

how is it cheating history. It's no different than Henry Armstrong beating ceferino garcia at WW, waiting for him to win a title at MW and trying to rematch a guy he had previously beaten. Again Im just telling you want points will be brought up if cotto wins and a rematch happens....so don't shoot the massager.Comment

Most people are thinking Cotto is done now.
Lets say he beats Foreman. Does that mean Cotto is back?
Not to mention Foreman has a paper strap. Ther are better fighters then Cotto at 154. Especially when most think hes done and you brutally beat his ass.
Martinez at 154
Dzindiruk at 154
Spinks at 154.
Williams at 154.
They all have paper belts. No excuse to cherry pick the weakest 154 Paper Chap.
Those are fights Pac should take at 154. Dont fight a guy you made weigh 145 then fight him at 154 after he you beat his ass already. Thats cheap.
Lets say Floyd didnt earn a belt at 154. If Hatton won a belt at 154 then Floyd re-matched him to get a title in another weight class he would be crucified. Same applies for Pac.Last edited by B.U.R.N.E.R; 02-27-2010, 02:26 AM.Comment

Its pretty pathetic for Pac to brutally KO Cotto at 145 then fight him at 154.

I already got your point and knew what you would say before you typed it. I think it really happens like this....Top Rank is hoping for two things...Angulo to win over Dzindiruk or Foreman to win over Cotto. Either of thoses guys emerge then look for Arum to jump on those guys as possible opponents. Cotto wins then Pac will go on to face Margarito or Valero.Comment
