Derrick Gainer's had a shot to be something, but he stopped taking his career serous. He started to struggle with weight and the lost to Marquez was pretty much the nail in his coffin. After that everyone wrote him off as a fighter, so why the hell would any fighter, let alone Pacquiao, fight him?

This thread is **** so let me kill it real quick with some cold hard facts
Pac has avoided slick fighters? Fiction.....Pac won his first world title against a slick fighter in Sakul(SP). I would even consider Ledwaba a slick fighter because he constantly slips, ducks and uses bobbing and weaving similar to Andre Dirrell.
As far as all the AA fighters.
Tim Austin- this has got to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. When Pac was at 122 he couldn't physicallly go any more lower in weight than that. Austin was at 118 and in 2001when Pac was at 122.....Austin was only 18 years old, very green and hadn't made a name for himself. 2003 he was still at bantamweight (118) while pac was already at 126
Kevin Kelley-was done as a fighter and wasn't taken his career serious..which is why they were calling his fight with Barrera "a shot at redemption"
Junior Jones-completey done as a fighter and him and pac were never at the same weight class at the same time
Freddie Norwood-Lost a fight and then took a several years off from the sport. Not even an option as he wasn't even boxing at the time.
Mark Johnson-The best AA fighter in the lower classes in my opinion but by him and pac were never in the same weight class. As soon as pac made a name for himself at 112...he lost a few fights later to Sigurat (sp) realised he couldn't make the weight anymore, and moved up to 122. Again Pac couldn't make the weight so Johnson was never an option for him.
Gainer-I already went in detail as to why he wasnt an option. Shot, not taken his career serious and completey outboxed against Marquez. He was actually in talks for Fighting Hamed but even then he wasn't taken his career serious. Was never considered an opponent for Pacquiao
Those were the top AA fighters when Pac was in the lower weight classes. There were never any to be considered as possible opponents. If there were he would have fought them. He has fought black fighters in Sanchez, Ledwaba, and Julio.Comment

Isn't this the guy who Roach pulled Pac away from because he was ripping Manny off? I think Muhammad is bitter that Arum is getting all these profits from Pacquiao and his top fighter is an old Evander Holyfield.
When someone makes a statement like this about a past business associate or client, but then says something like, "I think he would have beat the daylights out of Pacquiao", it makes his first claim subjective and bias. He would have been more effective if he just stated facts (which are questionable to begin with), not his bias opinions.
This is very similar to Arum bashing Mayweather and De la Hoya, 2 of his most well known former boxers. When he bashes these guys, I never take him seriously. If Pacquiao fired Arum, I bet he would accuse Pacquiao of using steroids and probably claim he saw Roach or Ariza injecting Pac himself.Comment

Bob Arum called Mayweather the best thing since Ali, SRR and SRL....he said h said he is better than all 3......
Read below.....Arum didn't want to give floyd any $$$$ because he is a greedy piece of ****...........Floyd buying out his contract for a mere 750K is the best thing he ever did....and this slimeball, reptilian muther****er is still embittered because Floyd is ****ting on his head rite now because he is the biggest star in the sport.....Arum didn't want to give him a 10 mil guarantee for Cotto or HAtton of even $20 mil for ODLH......Floyd went out and made 2 of those fights on his own and made 35 mil for oscar......15 mil more than he asked of Bob............BOB ARUM IS A SCUMBAG.......
Floyd Mayweather Jr. rejected promoter Bob Arum's $8 million offer to fight welterweight titlist Antonio Margarito, and he instead exercised a provision in his contract to buy Arum out.
Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.
Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.
"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."
Ellerbe said Mayweather opted for the buyout so he could be "more in control of when and who he fights next. It's as simple as that. There is nothing bad between Floyd and Bob."
Arum agreed that the split with Mayweather was not on bad terms like their brief breakup last year. In fact, Arum said, "We intend to be back together. Everything with this was honorable and good. I had offered him numbers [for a multi-fight contract extension] that were livable. His expectations are in the stratosphere. He was entitled to buy me out, and he did. We decided this was the best way to handle it. He is a free agent. We have agreed to work with each other [in the future]."Comment
