Welterweight contender Victor Ortiz (26-2-1, 21 KO’s) knocked out Hector Alatorre in the 10th and final round at Club Nokia at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, CA. Ortiz started slow against the defensive-minded Alatorre, but came on aggressively as the bout progressed. Although Alatorre (16-9, 5 KO’s) had his moments, Ortiz was in command as he landed the more effective punches. In the 10th round, Ortiz stunned Alatorre with a left hand before dropping him with a right uppercut to the head. Alatorre stood up and walked to his corner on shaky legs, prompting referee David Mendoza to step in and stop the bout at 51 seconds. Next for Ortiz is a rumored bout against former world champion Nate Campbell.
