Ya i like Pavlik and hope the injuries are behind him. The next year will show whether it was the injuries or if he's really just looking for the easy route. If he isn't willing to fight the best it won't work out for him given all the young talent coming up through 160. He won't be able to avoid tough compitition.

Great stuff! I'd always wanted to see that fight.Gennady Golovkin vs Lucian Bute from the 2003 World Amateur Championships. Golovkin KO's Bute.
Golovkin was the 2003 World Amateur Champion at Middleweight and the same tournament he beat:
Lucian Bute
Yordanis Despaigne
Andy Lee
Matvey Korobov
Oleg Mashkin
It's one of the most impressive runs in a tournament that i'v ever heard of.
In the 2004 Olympics Golovkin also beat Andre Dirrell but lost in the finals against Gaydarbekov.
Golovkin is currently rated #1 in the WBC & WBO (both the orgs that Pavlik has belts in) but i believe his people are going to push for a title shot against Felix Sturm.
Golovkin is from Kazakhstan.

Golovkin has one seriously wicked right. With headgear and what? 12 oz gloves, he still puts Bute into orbit?
Does anyone else think this guy reminds them of a larger Kostya Tszyu?Last edited by Jim Jeffries; 02-28-2010, 07:21 PM.Comment
