thats bull ****...kelly had a infection problem etc when he was gonna fight paul...apart from that i reckon the two fighters will maybe fight sooner or later...but i doubt kelly pavlik is a ducker..

I'm a Pavlik fan and I love the Martinez fight, but calling Martinez the second best MW is asinine. Based on a close fight that he lost to a guy that can fight at 147 as well? Sturm, Sylvester, all those Euro guys have a much better claim at being #2 behind Kelly than Martinez or Williams.

I think Martinez beats Sturm or Sylvester. You have to at least admit that he is a serious, serious challenge to either of them, and Pavlik as well.

Whether or not Pavlik ducked Williams, I have no idea. Its not inconceivable that he had a serious staph infection. My friend told me he caught the super bug on his leg somehow, at one point he could barely walk and was on like 8 different antibiotics. Its not a joke.

Anytime anyone pulls out of a fight for an injury, illness, or family issues, there will always be people who claim that its all made up just so they avoid fighting that fighter.

But that's not even the point of this thread, and DLH, Hatton and JMM are all bigger names. But there were much better, more challenging fights to be made. Floyd can be criticized too. I just haven't because he's fighting Shane now, and I respect that. Obviously you seem to feel the double standard applies though when it comes to Pavlik taking on Martinez.

I don't think he's ducked anyone. Arum should've made more effort to get Arthur Abraham over to the states for a fight when he was still at 160, but aside from that I don't really think the reasons for Pavlik's lack of opposition since mid 2008 can be attributed to anything other than injuries and lack of solid challengers. And if Marco Rubio hadn't been so gun shy in their fight, I think Pavlik would get a little less crap, because Rubio was supposed to be at least troublesome if not at least a small threat. Not Pavlik's fault that once Rubio felt the power of the Ghost in the opening round he curled up into a ball til the corner stopped it.
