I dissagree Nell and SRL you can make a case for but Duran. Hell no.

How can you say Floyd and Pac arent once in a lifetime fighters. You are taking the saying too literal.
Oh you just don't know about Duran skills then... Really you don't... You seriuosly underrated Duran skills... Duran was overall just as skilled or even more skilled then Floyd... I have read your posts about Duran. You honestly don't know how good he was...

And, I can say they are not once in a lifetime fighters. Because the truth is there are not is plain and simple... When did you start watching boxing? In 1996? So again they will be the best of your lifetime... But, I remember watching a prime Whitaker... I remember seeing Whitaker schooling the hell out of a top 20-25 ATG. I don't know how YOU can say they're once in a lifetime fighters...

        96???

More like 1992. Oscar in the olympics was the first guy I rooted for. I was in 1st grade I think. Then after that tapes and **** and dealing with my dad and uncles got me schooled on everything else.

Duran was skilled. Yes Im not going to say anything else. But to say he was AS skilled as Floyd if not more is insane.

Alot of people dont want to admit it but Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the most skilled fighter to ever lace up a pair. Hell I can just mention the smarts and thats enough. There will never be another Mayweather what you witness when you watch him is Boxing 101. Hit and not get hit. The defninition of boxing.

Im only 23 and you are 2 years older me. I seen Pernell Whitaker. Floyd is better then him IMO.

Floyd, based off skill and technique alone is amazing. Once in a lifetime? Perhaps, I've never seen a boxer as technically sound.

As for Manny? I'll refrain judgement until he stops avoiding random drug testing(though I don't think he's as good as most believe he is)

My uncles lifet time saw Duran and Leonard. Those two rank higher than Whitaker and Chavez...

I am pretty sure that there people on here who were alive during Ali era...

My point is that Pac and Floyd as of right now are not once in a lifetime fighters IMO. Maybe IF and is a big IF when they retire and have more accomplishments might rank higher than the fighters are mentioned. Then they could be called once in a lifetime type fighers...
Wait, we can't rank those fighters unless we grew up watching them? Man, your letting emotions **** your judgment. The truth is, THESE guys ( Pac and May) would give THOSE guys trouble ANY day.

Good thread, but pointless. Floyd stans will keep bitching, and Pac stans will keep counter attacking. It's not going anywhere.

Manny wouldn't give Duran or Leonard trouble in my opinion. He isn't defensive or tactical enough to beat cause Leonard much issue, and he isn't going to bowl right over Duran.

J-RO, oh no you didn't. Based on natural talent and skills alone, ***** is clearly above Duran on those two areas. Don't get me wrong, Duran's skillset was a bit underrated, the guy was a good all-around fighter. Can brawl, and an underrated counter-puncher as well.

But, not above *****. Also, neither PAC/*****/Duran/Leonard/ and the list goes on.. Can be categorized as "once in a lifetime" more like they don't come that often. I think the more appropriate phrase to describe the fighters we're talkin' about, it's more like, fighters like PAC and ***** come around every 10-20 years.
