Comments Thread For: Joan Guzman to train for Funeka in Manchester with Beard

Undefeated two-weight world champion Joan Guzman, 29-0-1 (17 early), will be looking to wipe away the only blip of his career when he faces South African Ali Funeka, 30-2-3 (25 early), in a rematch for the vacant IBF lightweight title on March 27th after a controversial draw in the first match back in November of last year. Guzman will get his redemption

I suppose many will not agree with me but I truly believe that the last fight between Guzman and Funeka was just an error for Guzman. In fact, he started that fight really well and Funeka was throwing but not landing anything. Guzman was dominant until he got cut; after that, with blood pouring in his eye, his movement got worse and his defense suffered as a consequence. Only then did Funeka really got in his groove...

That's why I believe this fight will be different. I don't think Guzman will win by KO but I can see him winning by UD; making Funeka miss all the time and making him pay for his high work rate (and poor defence)... Funeka sure has a jab but his long stick is helpless when a master of defense like Fuzman is in top shape (read: uncut).

Hmm, interesting choice for Guzman. Best of luck to him, hopefully he is in absolute tip top shape this time around.

I feel sorry for him, but I am still a Guzman fan and I would like to see Guzman win. But I won't mind at all if Funeka wins, because he deserves it.

Good thing he changed trainers,Don House and the rest of his team weren't a real help in the first fight.

I really like Guzman nad I like Funeka and even though I think Guzman will do better this time around I can't see him winning.

Funeka will beat him again. The guy would still somehow get robbed, even if he KO'd Giuzman in the first round. It's about time Ali got his props.
