My point is, he shouldn't have retired when the opportunity was clearly there to add to his legacy. Beating Chad Dawson would have been Calzaghe's beat win to date IMO.

Dawson, Bute and Froch(I hate to say it!) > Kessler and Lacy. The Hopkins fight was woeful.
I didnt say anything about how he "would have" beaten them. I said it was misleading to say he retired "just as things got interesting". When in fact, at the point of his retirement, things were very uninteresting at 168 and 175. I wanted to see him fight Dawson too but its not like Dawson was turning up trees when he retired.

The only one people wanted Calzaghe to face before retiring, after he faced RJJ, was Dawson, neither Froch nor Bute were mentioned at the time.

        Correct.

Dawson was the only fighter around for him to fight at the time of his retirement. And he has f-all drawing power at the moment, never mind a year or two ago. He's not even filling out arenas in his hometown from certain reports.

JCs retired but still some fighting talk in the old dog still. Yes Hatton should retire he is right. But he will soon anyway. Even if Hatton does fight on, it is only one more fight, so look at it that way.

But i hope Froch dont respond to JCs comments. All Froch needs to do is concentrate on Kessler and beat him even better than JC did. That should be Frochs best reply.

What a difference a year makes. He might not be a house hold name but he's P4P IMO. If he ain't in top 10, then he should be/will be soon.

                  Tarver x2

Johnson and Tarver are old yes, but there where ranked amongst the best at 175.

Hopkins is flat out ducking him. He's young, prime and legit. Just because he couldn't fill a phone box, doesn't mean he wouldn't be a worthy opponent for Calzaghe. It would be Calzaghe's best win.

you are telling me to open my eyes then you quote compubox which was clearly wrong? calzaghe landed a handful of punches the entire fight. go rewatch it. hopkins was the only one landing clean punches thus he was the winner in an ugly fight.

fair enough. i dont agree tho because i dont think dawson is p4p but im not gonna slate him!
And also i dont know how, but bhop at the time was ranked number 3 or 4 p4p and is still ranked number 4 p4p to this day. so that has gotta be his best win.
