Yes, ask Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. I mean, I'm sure you won't get fed stiffs to build up your career since you lack a legendary father on your side, but don't worry. Go for it! If you survive more than 10 pro fights, I'd say your a natural :P

Of course it is. I know guys who could KO the best fighters in the world right now if they landed the right punch. Skill development is a huge factor but not the be all end all. You can go pro and win fights and even become a champion without necessarily being a good boxer with fundamentals.

I know. Skill isn't everything in boxing. Many unpolished fighters find ways to win without being better than their opponents. I'm not saying these guys have higher or as high odds of becoming successful in the sport. Just in the context of the thread question, no, you do not need to be a great amateur to become a successful pro.

I think you have to be physically gifted in most cases. Guys like Cintron and P. Will had very little amateur experience but both of them are insanely physically gifted.

I think it's possible for non-physically gifted people too, but you would have to engulf yourself in the sport for years. Your life would have to revolve around it.

you should always have an amateur career to polish your mechanic. Train hard to have everything down as instinct.
