Comments Thread For: Cotto-Foreman Could Resurrect Boxing at Yankee Stadium

The date was September 28, 1976, and Muhammad Ali retained the WBA/WBC heavyweight titles with a twelve round decision over Ken Norton. That was the last time a major boxing event was staged in New York's Yankee Stadium. Over 33-years later, Top Rank, who promoted the last boxing event at the stadium, is on the verge of resurrecting big time boxing in the Bronx. [Click Here To Read More]

What if Cotto gets out pointed in a boring fight while trying to chase Yuri around?

There will still be electricity in the air no matter what. The only thing that would turn this night into a true bust would be a DQ or something. Yuri's last fight wasn't boring, and Cotto is never boring. Let's just hope for the best. It's gonna be a fight at Yankee ****in Stadium. Not exactly a reason to start the "what if" part of the discussion yet. be happy that something like this is so close to getting done.

He meant ressurect boxing at Yankee stadium. There use to be a lot of fights, but there hasn't been for more than 30 years.

Maybe I'm just cynical, but are 30k plus really gonna BUY tickets to this event? Seems like Top Rank is overreaching just a bit with this one.

If I have the money for a ticket and for traveling, I definitely plan to go. It'd be great to attend.

Stadium venues is where Boxing should be.

If Top Rank is doing anything right it's this.
