Top Rank CEO Bob Arum has responded to the recent statements that were made by Timothy Bradley's promoter Gary Shaw, regarding the negotiations for a possible fight with Edwin Valero. The two promoters were negotiating a few weeks ago on a Bradley-Valero clash for the month of June in Mexico. Boxing gets on my nerves sometimes. Its 2 political. Everything is money this & money that. Its bad enough fights don't get made because of this, now we gotta deal with this back & forth trash talk from promoters & fighters.

I bet all of my points that if Valero KO's Peterson, there will be a split issue, with Arum either wanting Valero to get 50 or more than 50% (which Shaw would be ******ed to agree to)...

So Arum and Todd deBouef are no longer in the negotiations business? I think Top Rank is trying to build Valero's myth on the back of a proven JWW champ. And for anyone who needs this spelled out for them - Valero's next fight will not be against Tim Bradley, even if Shaw offered him the moon! Bradley beats Valero every way but Sunday.

Rick, this rather begs the question: why didn't Arum simply pick up the phone, ring Shaw and ask him? He could have given Shaw a verbal deadline if Shaw didn't have an immediate answer. And why did he apparently stop taking calls from Shaw? This seems to me to be the height of unprofessionalism on Arum's part. Did you get an opportunity to ask Arum any questions, or did he just send you a statement?
