Why would you call DeMarco a bum, but in the same sentence praise Peterson? A win over Kid Diamond ****s on Peterson's whole resume. The thing that I don't like about what Valero is doing, is fighting a guy coming off a loss. Peterson got his ass handed to him and should go back to the end of the line. I understand getting your feet wet in a new division, but Valero should still fight someone on a winning streak or else keep his ass at 135. I'm about to retire from the Caveman Crew because I don't like the way the guy is acting.

Some of you are grossly underrating Peterson based on 1 loss to an excellent fighter and cavman's glitzy record even though he has not really beaten any top 5 opponents in his own weight class 1st before moving up.

you can accurately criticize Valero's level of opposition .. but shouldn't the same go for Lamont Peterson?

with the exception of Bradley (a loss) Peterson's fought mostly over matched opponents.

Still no reason to overrate a vastly unproven LW moving up for the 1st time against a clearly more skilled opponent.

Demarco aint **** so all you people hype off that win are crazy. He's a decent fighter. Nothing major. Peterson aint all that either but he's better then Demarco. I think Valero wins this fight. Gary Shaw is just talkin out of his ass, like all these other promoters do. Valero-Bradley that's the fight 2 be made at 140. Bradley wins but it'll be a good fight.

I'm just against fighters coming off losses getting a shot at a big name, regardless of size. It makes a mockery of the sport. There are a few exceptions of where it's warranted like in Sergio Martinez's case.

Valero is not a big name, he is largely unknown outside of hardcore fans.
