Kubrat Pulev becomes the first to stop Isossa Mondo

Kubrat Pulev, who KOed Matt Skelton with a bodypunch on Jan 30, today stopped Isossa Mondo of the Congo, who retired in the third round.

Pulev will fight again on March 13 against Danny Batchelder (25-7), who has generally only lost to good fighters.

That will be 3 fights in only six weeks for the talented Bulgarian heavyweight!

Ever since I first started watching the Klitschkos, I've been looking for Europe to produce another big, talented, athletic heavyweight.

I've generally been disappointed, because people like Ustinov and Dimitrenko are big but not really athletic nor especially talented.

But now with Kubrat Pulev, we finally have a good one!

      Was it televised?

Pulev certainly looks promising, think he'll crack the top 10 by years end?

Ustinov has been a dissapointment, if only his fat ass would drop drown to about 280 like his K-1 days he'd be legit.

He'd KOd Skelton with 5 fights under his belt? Not bad. I don't take anything after stopping a guy with 5 fights and someone who started his career in 2000 with only 3 fights in the last 3 years, but him KOing Skelton and taking on Batchelder next isn't that bad either for 6 fights.

He also has wins over Gbenga Oloukun & Zack Page, he's for real.

            - he turned pro in September 2009, after representing Bulgaria in the 2009 world amateurs

            - won a wide decision over Gbenga Oloukun (17-2) in his third pro fight. Gbenga is a decent heavyweight and has a win over Lamon Brewster

            - he next fought the very durable Zack Page, who is much better than his record indicates and has won some big upsets

            - then in his 5th pro fight, he KOed Matt Skelton in the 4th round with a body punch

            - he is now 6-0 and will face Danny Batchelder on March 13

What type of fighter is he? I read that he's taller, but is he more active like Vitali? More jab oriented like Wlad?

It's possible, if he continues at his current pace.

He and Sauerland are aiming at the European heavyweight title for his 9th pro fight, he first needs to have 8 pro fights to qualify.

He's active like Vitali, works angles, moves around on his feet more than most big fighters. He throws a variety of punches, but he likes to rely on the jab followed by a right cross like Wlad.

Unlike Wlad, he'll sometimes throw the jab-right cross combination several times in a few seconds, as he did against Oloukun. Wlad will jab frequently but he doesn't usually follow with as many rights as Pulev did in that fight.
