    Gerald McClellan

Gerald McClellan was drugged when he fought Nigel Benn after the first round. Benn had something on his gloves or something that screwed McClellen up. McClellan did not seem right in that fight after the 1st round just his heart would not let him stop fighting until the tenth. But something went wrong with him in 1st round or 2nd round.

Like in that movie Diggstown they put dope in his Nasal spray or something.

There was definitely something wrong with him other than from the punches he was taking. He was taking the punches fine, but he just seemed kind of out of it after the 2nd round. Then how bizarre that he standing up in fine condition and he takes a knee in teh 10th and braindamaged for life. There was definitely some wierd **** going down in that fight.

I read that he took a headbutt and that's what caused the bloodclot on his brain.

No drugs, nothing dodgy, no illegal headbutts, just one of those tragic things that happen sometimes in boxing. Benn won the war fair and square, they both took very heavy shots but Benns had more of an affect than Geralds.
Great fight, but a very sad ending

You missed the headbut at the end of the 9th round while Benn was going down apparently. Possibly it was unintentional but it was devastating.

No i didn't miss it, and it certainly was not intentional, thats why i put no illegal headbutts!!!!
I'd say the hard shots he was eating from round 2 onwards and the extreme fatigue he was battling was more devasting than that single head-clash, Gerald looked lost (not like he had lost the fight, but more like he was so shocked he couldn't adjust)from the 4th round even though he fought very hard, Benns immense will to win was what kept him going

I was at that fight and from where i was(bout 10 rows back) i thought whatever went wrong with gerald happened early in the fight he was having problems with the gumshield very early on, It was a very tragic evening and one that perhaps could do without drug rumours.

I wonder what hurt more that headbutt, or was it more painful for the Golden retreivers and Labradors that McClellan tied up and gauged as his Pitbulls ravaged them.. I would never wish harm on another human being but I can't say that feel bad for Gerald now after the hundreds of innocent animals that he tortured
